THE BUDD CAR AND THE CAT
It was a rainy Saturday in March, including a brief but gusty storm front.  About 5:00 the sun peeped out and I wanted to run some trains outside.  But with tracks full of debris and lots of puddles and mud, I didn't want to run a full train.  So out came the Budd car.                                                           3/6/04
The car is climbing the hill behind the coal trestle.  There is still coal in the bins but the people, cars, and trucks are inside waiting for spring.
The sun paints the Budd Car, the freight station, and the grass with a golden glow.  In a few months the area behind the car will have a thick growth of hosta.  For now it is dormant.
As the car glides by in the distance, Sunshine the Cat walks on the trestle.  She's very curious but doesn't want to get her feet wet.  When the cat is in the house, the squirrels use this trestle as a walkway too.  Unfortunately they like to gnaw on the plastic of the switch machines.
As the car makes a stop at Rising Sun, we can see its reflection in the puddle.  In the upper right, the cat walks up to us on the main line to see what's happening.
Station Stop at Maple Hill.  It's getting a little darker now.
As the sun goes down, the headlight seems to get brighter.
It's been a nice run, but now it's time to get back in the house.  Here the RDC is driving itself onto its very own "Budd Tote."   It will then go into the warm house until its next assignment.
