| Knocking
Death was knocking on my door
I could hear his mocking laughter
He threw my body to the floor
And told me what he was after
"It's your turn now to come with me"
His eyes were burning with delight
"You and I are meant to be"
"But I'm not giving up without a fight"
I felt a chill run up my spine
And that was when I saw the light
Heaven and Hell divided by a line
It was the most excrutaiting sight.
He forced me to stand on the line
As he demanded: "Which way?"
He handed me a paper to sign
"It doesn't matter,you're dead anyway."
I kept seeing visions of my life
I regretted all the time I had lost
Suddenly I felt pain as sharp as a knife
When in my palm the divil had crossed.
"We could be quite good together"
Was what he said and quite sincerly
"The two of us could make the world better"
And for a moment he had convinced me.
I felt light headed for a moment or two
As God stepped on the line as well
"We need more angels, there are too few"
His kingdom looked more inviting than Hell.
Then I heard voices in the distance
A young man was calling to me softly
The world will soon forget my existence
Startled suddenly by someone knocking abruptly.
