Nazis In Disguise
Working and living in Belfast City dispells all the myths that are thrust upon the public. Belfast is full of graffitti and rubbish and seemingly the "Keep Belfast Tidy" campaign has fallen on deaf ears. Hate crime campaign is no more effective at eradicating racism or religious hatred than I am.

The latter has a direct link to the topic of this blog. The street preachers that stand daily outside my shop, or should I say DIRECTLY outside my shop are chasing away vital customers (they may be idiots, but at least they spend money) and are nothing but nazis in disguise. Hiding behind God and condemning people to hell in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ is putting me out of a job.

Their leaflets are no more informative than the bible is. The message is archaic and brutal - believe in and put your trust in this invisible deity or you're screwed. Children, adults, they don't seem to care who hears this message. How damaging would it be for a child to hear that he will burn in Hell if they don't live their lives according to the way these crazy guys on the street do it? Afraid to breathe with the nagging thought that they would be "judged" or "condemned". Bollocks!

A few months back I passed a preacher in the street who asked me "Sister, are you saved?". Two problems here:

1 - I am an only child and therefore have problems with arseholes with Jesus complexes referring to me as their sister followed by a stupid question
2 - What am I saved from? I don't believe in Heaven or Hell and therefore the only thing I needed saved from was this nutcase.

The exact moment I snapped as regards street preachers happened two weeks ago. The preachers had branched out into pro-life campaigning. Between shouting about their "BENEVOLENT GOD" who will send everyone to hell and their thoughts on the evil women who kill their babies (with colour illustrations), I wasn't impressed. These people must live an incredibly mundane life watching their P's and Q's and making sure they don't break any of the ten commandments. Then, fifty years later they die as miserable as when they lived condemning people who really live in this life as sinful. But hey - they're so righteous they can pass judgement upon whomever they please.

Passing judgement on people when all they want to do is a bit of Saturday shopping is sinful unless you're an evangelist. I guess I'm damned, but I don't care. I guess I love the way I could blow their minds. I've lived more in 21 years than they have in a lifetime (collectively). If being a sinner is wrong then I'll continue to be one for the rest of my life because I refuse to be judged by small minded thought police with delusions of grandeur.
