Some local spots that I recommend.
One Tuesday night at a Buckhead bar which I'm too embarassed to name, I spotted Tony Little, a.k.a. America's personal trainer.  I told him to try the Star Bar.  How foolish of me.  No pony-tailed gym-freak can feel the funk.

I made my first trip to the Funk Party in 1996, and I can testify that it's stronger than ever.
Kwasi and me (I'm the one who is obviously not down with the funk).
Starlight Drive-In
Every Tuesday, just after midnight, Atlanta funksters get their groove on at the Star Bar.  DJs Kwasi and Romeo Cologne get the crowd up for getting down.  It's hot, sweaty, crowded, and funky.
Jake's Ice Cream
Tired of freezing theaters, outrageous snack prices, and the anonymous prick with a laser pointer?

Try the old-fashioned Starlight Six drive-in..  Sure, the neighborhood's a little sketchy, but you won't give it a second thought when you're watching a movie under the stars with your own late dinner and beer.

This summer I saw Undercover Brother (hilarious) and Austin Powers 3 (occasionally amusing), but I missed the infamous Drive-InVasion 2002.
Don't forget the bug spray.
Although Jake's motto ( "laugh ofter, dream wildly, and eat lots of ice cream") is faintly nauseating, his ice cream is incomparable. There's just one problem: I love his Chocolate Slap Yo' Mama so much that I have to force myself to sample other flavors.
