We have always shared an affinity for Lorikeets, so it's no suprise that most of the birds we keep are Lorikeets of one variety or another. (Our current flock consist of 26 Lories)
Lorikeets are known as the "clowns of the bird world".  We have found this to be a very apt discription.  A typical day in our home is filled with giggles, whistles, hisses, burps, farts, heaps of talking and general merriment. Lorikeets have a pension for rolling around on the bottom of their cage, either wrestling a cage-mate or in a heated battle with an unruly toy.  Our Lories vary in size from tiny "Squeek" the Varied Lorikeet to Kanga, a rather large Rainbow.   There are 7 species of Lorikeets native to Australia.  We have members of 5 of those (Rainbow, Red-Collar, Scaley Breasted, Musk, and Varied) and are hoping to add a Little and Purple-Crown to the flock soon.
