Roto Ruder?
16 Feb 2004
Do you ever find yourself judging a player's real-world value on his fantasy-world stats? Saying to yourself things like, "Is Dave Roberts injured again? Where are the Dodgers going to get their Stolen Bases?"... No? Well I have. So I decided to score last year's teams like they were in a 5x5 roto league and see how that matched up to reality.
I found the results reassuring. I had expected 5x5 to bear little resemblance to teams' real-world win-loss records.
I know, I know -- I only tested one year. What can I say? I bore easily.
Interesting note: last year, OBP was no more telling than AVG, but OPS was.
