1954 Peterborough Shorty Trapper
This canoe is responsible for my severe case of Wood Canoe Bug.

It is a 1954 Peterborough "Shorty" Trapper model.  I inherited in from my mother-in-law.  The canoe had a reputation of being "tippy".  I prefer to call it "lively" or maybe "opinionated", not unlike my mother-in-law. The canoe has dumped her son-in-law on more than one occasion.  I tell my son, that grandma is playing tricks on me!

She had a great love of nature and made every effort to tread lightly on this planet.

The canoe needed some work.  There was a 3 inch diameter hole through the side near the waterline where the muffler from a riding lawnmower had been inserted.  The paint was alligatored too.

Kevin Martin replaced a rib and some planking and gave the canoe a new canvas skin.
This is the repaired and refinished Peterborough Shorty.
