This canoe is a 1940 CS Grade ("Common Sense") Old Town, 18 foot, Guide Model. The canoe was originally built for a man in Salem, New Hampshire. Kevin Martin did a canvas job on it 12 years ago. I recently gave it a coat of paint, and it needs some cane work, but I've been using it frequently.
It's an impressive performer. I've amazed a few plastic boat owners with its performance. We had it out on the chop in Eagle Lake up in Maine loaded to the gunnels with kids, the dog, and gear and it handled really well between swells!!
