Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is APBA Baseball?
APBA baseball is a baseball board game based on real MLB player stats.  Each MLB player has a card, and on each card are a set of numbers reflecting their statistics.  APBA Baseball is a dice based game, where you roll dice and look up the rolled numbers on your players cards.  These numbers are then translated to another board where it says the result of the play, such as double, homerun, strikeout. Their official website is www.apbastadium.com.

2. What does sixty-six! (or 66!) mean?
Sixty-six is the best dice number you can roll in the game of APBA Baseball. This occurs when both of your dice land showing six's. A sixty-six results in a homerun for most players.  The game of APBA Baseball can also be referred to as 66!.

3. What does APBA stand for?
APBA stands for American Professional Baseball Association.  Some people pronouce the acronymn APBA as "App'Bah", but thats not how we roll in Peshtigo(no pun intended).  Everyone here pronounces it by saying the letters in order- A-P-B-A.

4. Why do you guys call Tom Glavine a thug? Why is he so tough?

On Tom Glavine's card for the 2005 Peshtigo APBA season, he was a B pitcher, and did not have an X,Y, Z, ZZ, or W.  Almost all pitchers on the game have at least one of those.  Before each game, you have to tell the other person what grade pitcher you are starting.  So you would usually hear something like "Johan Santana - A XZ" or "David Wells - C ZZ".  But since Glavine didn't have anything after the B, you would say "Glavine - B".  Your opponent would say "B with what?".  And you would have to say " Just B, he doesn't have an X or anything like that."  So one day, Craig(Glavine is on Craig's Cubs) just said "Glavine - straight up thug."  And the name stuck.  Now we joke about what a badass Glavine is.  To see our cool Tom Glavine page

5. Who Started the Peshtigo APBA? Where is it played?

The Peshtigo APBA was started in 2004 by Randy and Danny Fochesato.  The other original members were Craig Morois, Casey Kmiecik, Eric Lengas, and Cory Grom.  Eric Rajala and Cory Jorgensen were added a year later, in 2005. Our games are all played at the Fochesato's house, with only a couple of exceptions when games have been played at their cabin and Craig's house.  Each Peshtigo APBA season runs during the summer months.

6. Can I Join the Peshtigo APBA?
Maybe.  We currently have 8 members and are not really looking to expand, but if some more people were interested in joining we might reconsider and allow a couple more expansion teams.  If you are interested in joining for the 2006 season you can send an email to Casey at [email protected] or Craig at [email protected].  You MUST pass an entrance exam that will include questions on basic baseball knowledge that everyone should know.  If you do not pass this exam you will not be considered.  Passing this exam does not give you automatic entry into the league.  You must still be formally accepted by the league.  Also, expansion teams must come in a group of two, because we don't want an odd number of people in our league.  This means if you are qualified to join but are the only elgible person, you will not be accepted since we would have an odd number.

7. Can I Set the Peshtigo APBA Website as my Homepage?
Yes you may.
