Re: RS: Board Meetings

Hi, I am fairly new to the list and I just couldn't help but respond to this. I am the Homemaking Leader in our ward and our RS Pres does a great job with board meetings. They are held every month with the entire board.

The first Tuesday of every month is our Midweek activity. This is our 'craft night' or any activity that will require expense from the sisters, since this is 'optional'.

The third Tuesday of every month is our regular Homemaking night. No crafts, ever. Awhile back our Stake RS asked that crafts not be done at homemaking because that is all that was being done. So this is our way to do what we are asked and still fulfill everyones craft need. We have great turnout to both.

The fourth Tuesday is Board Mtg. It is held at a different sister's house each month. A treat list is rotated also and we just started (me being guinea pig in a time of dire stress) having the sisters rotate doing the message too. The entire board: Presidency, VT coordinator, VT supervisors, compassionate serv, Homemaking leader, assistants, homemanagement teacher, midweek specialist, nursery leader, all teachers--everyone is included. The RS pres goes over all announcements, upcoming events, sisters in need. We discuss plans for homemaking, getting input from the entire board. We want them to feel included and then they are more likely to come and bring others with them. Then we split into groups, Homemaking finalizes plans, Ed. Counselor has teaching helps and works out teaching problems with all teachers pooling ideas, Pres/VT cord/supervisors/comp serv discuss changes in VT routes and any problems. Meetings usually only last an hour or maybe a little more.

Every one is made to feel that there is a purpose for them to be there--which there is! The entire board is meant to work together, not just some doing the planning and work for everyone else. More is accomplished and everyone is strengthened in their callings when everyone works together. Like someone already said, there is a reason the handbook says once a month.
