The Genetic Erosion Recovery Initiative is devoted to preservation
of existing heirloom seed in danger of being lost.

Geri is a grass roots, privately funded educational endeavor which has its beginnings in a long history of gardening and interest in foods from foreign lands. After discovering heirloom varieties of vegetables I became interested in growing these extremely tasty varieties. Learning of many indigenous varieties of edibles, I began growing as many as I could find sources for. I am continuing my research into the discovery of new and exciting edibles. There are many resources for a wide variety of wonderful things to grow and eat on my site, and there is a gold mine of links on the link page.

This site was begun as a project in school in the spring of 1999 and has continued to occupy an inordinate amount of time and energy. It is beginning to gain the attraction of others in the field of agriculture and gardening in both the information and growing aspects of this field. I am associated with the Seed Savers Exchange and have been an avid gardener since I was a child. Not long after I moved down to Belen I became a Valencia County Master Gardener, which has given me more knowledge in the field of horticulture, including vegetable gardening.

I am located in Belen, New Mexico. You can e-mail me at [email protected].
