Two bitumen discs encircled by copper bands.
The decorated surfaces were originally with silver gilt, which survives intact
for one example but has been removed from the bitumen disc. The gold leaf
was attached to the silver by burnishing and heating, a process known as a
diffusion bonding. These discs may have decorated horse harness or been
mounted on double baldrics and worn on the chest.
Middle Elamite, 14th-13 century BC.
