Search For Your Past
Kotas Rsenoth was walking along the buildings of Wutai, searching for the local
inn or bar, whichever
building that contained people. He looked into building after building until he
found the one he was looking for.
Perfect, he said to himself. He found the bar and sat down on a stool and
ordered some beer.
Excuse me, he stopped the bar keeper before he could take the next order,
Have you seen this woman
around anywhere here? He asked the question while showing the man the wanted
poster of his mother.
I think I saw someone like that, the barkeeper said, Yeah, she came in here,
or at least someone that
had long black hair came in here asking about something involving spirits or
whatever. Well, I wasnt listening, I
thought he/she was crazy so I just left him/her alone. You know how those people
are....
Kotas nodded but zoned out, excitement filling him because he thought he was
finally close to finding his
mother. Thoughts came into his mind, will she be caring, will she greet him with
open arms. Or will she just leave
him again, not caring a whit about him. He took a big gulp of the mug of beer in
front of him when the bar
keepers voice tuned back into his head, Yeah, I think it went into the
mountains searching for something, I dont
know.
Thanks, Kotas said while getting up, Here keep the change. He put some gil
on to the counter and
walked out.
He stared up at the mountains and smiled. I know shes up their, she has to
be. He started walking
towards the mountain, his pace quickened until it turned in to an all out dash
towards the mountain. Everything
blurred past him and he started going up the path not slowing down. Before he
knew it he was at the top of the
mountain, facing  a red cloaked figure. He stopped, panting after having to run
all the way up.
The figure didnt move, its cloak just kept moving in the wind, the only thing
that moved at that moment.
When Kotas caught his breath he stood up straight, but words couldnt come out
of his mouth. Wow, is this my
mother, he thought but he was frozen. All these emotions that he just couldnt
express. Then the figure turned and
Kotas was shocked. It wasnt his mother after all.
What are you doing here, were you sent by Shin-Ra? the figure asked.
Shin-Ra. Kotas finally snapped out of it and came to his senses. No, I dont
work for Shin-Ra. Im
sorry but I thought you were somebody I was searching for.
Hmph, seems we are all searching for something. Too bad, if we could all just
find it, maybe we would
all be happy. He smiled, But that will never happen, their is no eternal
bliss, their is only a hell that we create for
ourselves.
Man, your way to depressing, maybe you should lighten up a bit.
Lighten up. Hmph, youth, always so eager and naive. They never know when to
shut up. At this the red
cloaked man lifted a gun out from his holster that was convienantly hidden and
fired towards Kotas. Kotas had his
reflexes up and ducked under the shot. Another shot came at him and he rolled
out of the way. Kotas jumped up
and took out his wrench and charged the mysterious man who was reloading his
gun. The man just jumped over
Kotas and swiftly turned to fire off another bullet which clipped Kotas in the
leg.
The man smiled and turned away, Youth, theyll never learn.
Wait! Kotas shouted out, trying to block out the pain from the shot that
caught him. The man stopped.
Who are you?
Me, Im noone. I am a wandering spirit, waiting to be freed.
Again with the depressing talk, just tell me your name! Kotas shouted out
getting very impatient.
I am Vincent, the man said walking away.
Wait. Kotas said alittle more calm as he tried to stand. You said we all are
searching for something,
what are you searching for?
Why should I tell you?
Because, maybe I can help. We can help each other out. Kotas said almost
pleading, he knew a man
with this guys skill would come in handy.
You cant help me, noone can. I have sinned too many times to ever be helped.
Noone can save me now,
except, maybe her. Vincent said looking down towards the earth.
Well, can I try. You can help me out and I can try to help you. It would be a
double buddy system.
Hmph, persistant you are. Vincent turned and walked over to Kotas. He helped
him up, then he turned
and said, Well, if helping you can repent some of the sins I have commited, why
not. We are all searching for
something, maybe this will get me closer to what I seek more than traveling by
myself.
Kotas smiled and tried walking, he stumbled a bit but got used to it. Well,
maybe your right, maybe we
are all searching for something. Maybe it is the same thing, closure. And so
started the journey of the two
searchers.
