The occult kind of magic is spelt with a 'k', making it magick. It's one of the oldest ways of living. It involves concentration and a way of controlling the mind, mainly through symbols and signs, but ultimately through belief. Magick is there to be used to alter the mind of the self and the universe.
A lot of modern magick comes from Ancient Egypt. Individual types of magick have been developed by particular groups of people, including the Chinese. Western magick was supressed by the rise of the Christians and, before that, the Egyptian priests. Alchemists were some of the people to rediscover this acient magick in medieval Europe. Luckily, people have been open-minded enough (just!) to let information and knowledge about magick unfold over the last one hundred years. Even scientests have begun to take an interest since the start of the twentieth century.
Magick is hugely interesting and always stays that way! I'd say it's almost like a drug and I'm sure many people would agree with me. It's a life-long experience. Magick brings fantasy to life (not in the way of Disneyland either!). Learn to control your natural psychic abilities and you'll be surprised at how helpful they can be in the most mundane of lifestyles!
Magick can benifit you and others, although hopefully not in that order! Luck and health is highly improved. Magick helps life run smoothly. It can also help to control bad habits and propel the mind to be ceative and innovative.
But magick is powerful. It's not to be taken light-heartedly. It can alter events. Magick can create influence over people. But magick is not there to just be used for the sake of it. There is more to magick than having power.
