bul2.jpg (1038 bytes) Full Name - Guensin Aniches Aes Sedai
bul2.jpg (1038 bytes) Position - Aes Sedai of the Red Ajah
bul2.jpg (1038 bytes)Character Summary:

A tall, lean daughter of fishers from the rowdy, dirty Tairen Maule, Guensin was able to flee her early life of violence and deprivation thanks to the laws of Tear that made it illegal to remain in her homeland after it was revealed she could channel. The Defenders dragged her from her home, leaving her scant moments to say good bye to her parents, her sisters and her beloved brother Euan. Upon arriving in Tar Valon, she was bright student, and excelled in her studies. She is also known to have an impressive array of informants in several key locations, including the Sun Court in Cairhien, where she once took a lengthy sabbatical, as well as in the ruling houses of Tarabon and Arad Doman. She does have a gaping hole in her network in Tear, though, as Guensin seems to behave as if that nation no longer exists. She is the mentoress of Lillias Aerwyn, a Ghealdanin Novice, and Aina Teman, an Altaran Accepted, whom she is trying to steer towards the Red Ajah. Among her sister Reds, she and Eilande Fioneiven are fierce rivals.

bul2.jpg (1038 bytes)Extended Background:

The daughter of poor fishermen from the Tairen Maule, Guensin was raised in the very poorest and most dangerous streets of the city. She was a wilder, and when she it was discovered that she could channel, she was sent to Tar Valon on a boat before the next sundown, the High Lords who run the city allowing her only a moment to say farewell to her parents, her sisters and her adored brother Euan as the Guards dragged her off to the first boat they could find.

Arriving in Tar Valon, she was snapped up by the Tower, which was eager to train her, and her time times as a novice and as an Accepted were unexceptional. When the time came, as a result of her intense study of the Tower, its history, and its role, she decided to join the Red Ajah, as she came to see that their role was the most important one in the Tower.

She's been regarded well by her sisters of the Red, and she is known to be one of the more intelligent sisters, who prides herself on keeping herself informed on a wide variety of subjects, and she is also known to have an impressive array of informants in several key locations, including the Sun Court in Cairhein, where she once took a lengthy sabbatical, as well as in the ruling houses of Tarabon and Arad Doman. She does have a gaping hole in her network in Tear, for Guensin has an intense HATRED of Tear and all in it, stemming largely from her treatment as a girl who could channel.

Guensin has a few notable character flaws:

    • She is FASTIDIOUS. She likes everything simple and spartan, she hates clutter and excessive decoration, largely a by-product of her poor upbringing. When presented with disorder and excessive frills, it annoys her to no reason, and indeed this carries over to people, and what they wear. She is known to be rude to a sister simply because she thinks her dress is too ornate.
    • She has a HATRED for Tear, and especially the Tairen nobility.
    • Even though she is a bright and learned woman, she operates under the DELUSION that the Dragon Reborn will never come, and indeed he will be just another of the channeling rabble-rousers she has dedicated her life to apprehending, who in her eyes are seizing on the tales of Lews Therin to garner personal glory, and there really will never be a Dragon Reborn, just another pretender.
    • Guensin, born into a poor house, raised among sailors and fishers, and then rigidly schooling herself in the Tower, and avoiding much social interaction, is extremely awkward and ungraceful in social situations. She is very INEPT in her ETIQUETTE. She has no tact, no courtesy, and seems willfully ignorant of customs and social mores.
    • She is OVER-CONFIDENT, and she often takes on tasks that are too big for her, and on more than one occasion, she has asserted control on Tower missions, and those missions end up not being as successful as they could have been.
    • Lastly, she has a wild irrational PHOBIA of dogs. When she sees a dog, a gut-wrenching terror seizes her and it takes great concentration to collect her thoughts and steel herself. This fear is largely from her repeated contacts with the packs of strays that often ran amok in the streets of the Maule, and once, she was beset upon by a pack when she was girl, and a nearby fishmonger had to fend them off with a broom stick. The event left her traumatized.

In her time as a Red sister, she has made few friends and some enemies, chiefly Eilande Fioneiven, a sister of the Red Ajah, whom Guensin despises for her unconvential attitudes and freely flying tongue. She has taken an interest in the progress of a Ghealdanin novice named Lillias Aerwyn, and has taken Aina Teman, an Altaran Accepted, on as a protégé, trying to steer towards the Red Ajah.

bul2.jpg (1038 bytes)Description:

Not tall, but a good height, with a robust frame speaking well of health, Guensin Aniche bears herself with an implacable sense of determination, a sense of presence forged in the depths of the Tairen Maule. She is not pretty, and only her father ever called her beautiful, yet with her pale complexion and cool blue eyes, there is an appealing quality to her face. Her pale countenance, coupled with the unearthly, knowing gaze and smooth taut skin does catch the attention of those who see her. Her dark, glossy hair is pent up in a severe knot at the back of her head, and held in place with a pair of red lacquered tongs. Guensin wears a dress of darkest crimson, so dark as to seem black, with a high, prim neckline and long sleeves, held closed at the wrist by small buttons of mother-of-pearl. Nearly undetectable upon the somber satin dress is fine embroidery in black, making out the intricate pattern known as a Tairen Maze, down her sleeves and across her bodice. Her slippers are matching cloth, with small buckles inlaid with more pearl-shell, and around her waist is a wide belt of red silk, knotted intricately, and falling to mid-thigh. A few bangles of ivory clatter harshly upon her wrist, and tucked behind her belt is a simple knife, the well-worn hilt peeking out from a scuffed leather sheath. Upon one weathered hand glitters her Great Serpent ring.

bul2.jpg (1038 bytes)Associates & Students:

  • Lillias Aerwyn:
An ethereal, serene Ghealdanin novice, Lillias has expressed an interest in the Red Ajah, and Guensin has taken her in hand. She may be a Dreamer.
  • Aina Teman:
Plump and buxom, Aina is an Altaran Accepted whom Guensin has taken on as a protégé, and also is trying to direct her towards the Red Ajah. She is believed to tend Guensin's network of informants when Guensin is away on her missions.
  • Oseane Dariff:
A sensuous Domani, Oseane Dariff is a sister of the White, largely eschewing worldly pleasures, yet still affecting the languid styles of her countrywomen. She is a cordial associate of Guensin, stemming from their mutual time as novices together.
  • Ciane Astinese:
A tall martinet of a Green Sister, the Altaran-born Ciane is a amicable rival of Guensin, for as novices, they had wild escapades together, although they chose differing paths. She is not beautiful, yet is speculated to have a string of lovers, and an army of heart-broken men left in her wake.
