picture of a pumpkin Well, I freaking loved the book. In the past year, I have read Martin, Goodkind and Jordan. These were all 600-800+ page books. These all had a shitload of unanswered plot lines.

Well they could learn a thing or two (especially Robert Jordan!) about wrapping up shit. JK Rowling kicked some major plot line ass in this book IMO. She cleared up a lot of shit and where most books have a short chapter at the end of the major action, HP: OoP had two to three chapters!

Two to three chapters of juicy shit I had been waiting to learn and more teen angst than you can throw Avril Lavign at. Moreover, I am guessing you could throw her lil skinny ass pretty far but still...

Couple of things I liked:

(1) Sirius!
The way JK left it open about Sirius' death. I mean hello.... Sirius = Morraine anyone? (Wheel of Time) The way Sirius fell through that doorway was familiar but cool. JK has said he "is definitely dead" but I doubt it. I wonder if he will come back as a poodle instead.

(2) The darkness of it all!
This book gave George R. R. Martin a run for his money in the amount of bad shit that can happen to one character. Well, make that many characters. Sirius spends 10 freaking years in Azkaban and then dies a year and a half later, while being chased by the majority of the wizarding community.

Then there is Harry. He finally gets the father figure that he has always wanted and is screwed again in that category. I actually caught the first movie on HBO today and Hagrid even seemed a father figure to Harry in that but not so in the books. Harry is alone again.

(3) Teenage love!
Slick Rick would be so proud. The scenes with Ron/Hermione and Harry/Cho were some of my favorite parts.

Some in the HP community believe Harry and 'Hermy' are meant for each other but that is a bunch of hogwash. Ron and Hermione argue and interact so much like Ron's parents that it is amusing.

I still think Harry and Ginny will end of together. Both are starting to notice one another. (Harry caught Ginny smiling at him and "she turned away" at the end of the book)

(4) Snape!
Snape was as endearing as a stepping in a pile of dog shit before, but after this book, you almost caught yourself feeling sorry for the guy. I liked the way JK made James out to be an ass. Almost, (almost) like Martin's 'Tyrion' went from *bad guy* to *good guy*.

At the end of the book, Snape's attitude seemed different towards Harry. He had felt as if Sirius did not do jack-shit. Sirius just stayed at home locked away, while he and the others did all the work.

Sirius fought at the end and died while Snape was absent from it all. Yeah, Snape really cannot fight the DEs or Voldermort because they think he is still one of them, but I think it might have changed him a bit. I believe we will see a different relationship between Harry and Snape in the next book.

(5) Fred and George!
Some of my favorite scenes involved these two. It almost felt like the old Judy Bloom/Beverly Clearly books of old when these two were causing trouble. These two actually had me LOL.

(6) Harry!
Harry evolved into a nicely rounded character by the end of this book. His conversation with Nearly Headless Nick was very endearing and I found myself more touched by this than by the "death of Sirius" itself.

Harry is now a man and we all know what that means... he is going to take names and kick some Voldemort ass! Now if he would only get the chicks while doing so.

Poor little guy.
