| Chapter 4: Memories |
| Puzz woke up that night in a pool of sweat. Not again. She thought to herself. Puzz looked around to make sure that everything was as she had left it. Her trunk by the bed, clothes in the dresser, and safe box under the bed. Puzz pulled out the box to check that everything was there. A picture of her mother and father with their newborn baby. Puzz scanned the picture carefully, trying to remember anything about her parents that she may have forgotten. Although she studied this picture often, she still hoped for a little something that she may have missed before. Something to tell her a little bit more about her past. Persitue Bantrazon was very gruff and stern looking. His skin was pale and white as if he had spent all his days looking at ghosts. His brown hair reflected the light and his muscular arms could be detected even under his T-shirt. Persitues brown eyes and high cheek bones gave him the appearance of a killer, but Puzz knew better. She knew that her father was nothing of the sort. Her father had been nothing but a muggle, in love with the wrong witch at the wrong time. Ameilla sat below him with his arm placed on her left shoulder. She looked as if she was an angel sent from the heavens above. Her red hair draped over her right shoulder and her green eyes were visible, even in the dim light of the hospital room. The circles under eyes gave her the appearance of 30 years, even though she had only been 24 when the picture had been taken. There was a longing look in her bright green eyes. As if she knew what would become of her so near in the future. Puzz put the picture back in the box and picked up the necklace that she had gotten from her aunt last Christmas. She rubbed her fingers over the engraving of the Hogwarts crest and smiled to herself as she thought about what her aunt had said giving it to her. Arabells voice rang through her head. Anne, I want you to know that I am always here for you, where ever you go. And Hogwarts will always be here for you too. Dont forget either of us. Because, as long as you know where you stand, no one can hurt you. No one. A sharp clap of thunder outside brought Puzz abruptly back to reality. She checked to make sure that everything else was in its place and then she decided to go see if Luna was still up. Puzz walked down the steps from the corridor and into the Great Hall. No Luna. Puzz was still restless, so she decided to go for a walk around the halls. Nothing particular caught her eye, so she decided to go back to her room for a while. Puzz dredged up the steps slowly and opened her door, only to see the 2 familiar eyes of her pet frog staring straight at her. Ramborli. She whispered, What are you doing here? Your suppose to be in South America with your family by now. The large frog held out its tongue and nipped at a fly as it turned around to reveal the package on its back. What? Puzz asked, Who in the world would find you, in the middle of your migration, to send me a letter? She took the package off the pink frogs back and read it as she poured out some saved up dead flies and a bowl of water for her wonderful pet. Puzz almost dropped the bowl as she stared in horror at the letter. It simply read, Get Ready. Puzz tore open the package. Inside was a small silver necklace with a flower. Puzz recognized it, and she suddenly knew from where. She quickly dug out her safe box once again. The necklace in the picture was exactly the same as the one that she now had in her hand. She was horrified and speechless. Puzz bolted up and ran down to the Hufflepuff common room with the necklace and picture still in her hands. She whispered the password that she had herd Luna say before and walked in to the luckily empty common room. Puzz took a flying leap and ran up to Lunas dorm. She got her hair barrette and started working at the lock. Soon, Puzz found herself in the middle of Luna and another girls well decorated room. She ran over to Lunas bed and shook her friend quickly. We need to talk. She whispered as she handed Luna her robe. Come on, this is important. After Luna was dressed, she and Puzz walked quietly down to the Hufflepuff common room. Luna sat down. First of all, how did you get into my room. You cant pick a lock. Puzz smiled. I learn by example. Luna giggled. So, what did you want to talk about? Puzz handed Luna the picture and the necklace. Someone sent me that necklace by way of my own frog. I just got it a moment ago. Obviously, whoever this guy is, knows way more about me than I would like him to. It must have been one of the men that killed her. How else would they have had the necklace? How else could they have stopped Ramborli in the middle of migration? Luna was dumbfounded and speechless for a moment. Have you shown your aunt? No. And Im not going to either. If she sees this, I can kiss any chances I had of going to Hesterate Academy goodbye. Luna nodded her head. I still think she should know Puzz. I mean, this is serious. This guy could be under your bed and you wouldnt even know it. Puzz became sarcastic. Oh yeah, thanks Luna, Ill remember that next time I try to get some sleep. Its bad enough I cant sleep already. Do you really have to rub it in my face? Seeing the hurt look on her friends face, Puzz added, Look, Im not telling my aunt and thats that. Luna was obviously not buying it. She stood up and headed for the door. Good luck Puzz. Ill see you tomorrow. Puzz was about to say something, but decided against it. She stood up and put the necklace around her neck as she headed back to her room up in Gryffindor. As she walked back into her dorm, she found that Ramborli was gone again and had left her a present of his own. A small pink model frog sat staring up at her on her bed. He must have gotten it from a trader somewhere. She thought to herself. My frog, smartest pet on the planet. What would I do without him? She put the picture back in its case and set the frog next to it before putting her safe box back up once again. Puzz laid in her bed thinking about the package and the letter. Wondering who it had come from, and why now? Only a week before her Birthday. Puzz fell asleep thinking, and had no more dreams that night as she held the necklace close to her heart. |
