Two weeks ago I bought a new purse that I didnt necessarily need because every time I go to a store there is a new and better selection. What seems like the perfect bag at the time of purchase goes out of style quicker than a computer and starts to grate on ones patience. If you need a big pocket because you like to carry your wallet, sunglasses, phone and half of your bathroom, then the purse with the huge pocket you bought last week will undoubtedly soon be too big. And for the minimalist that claims they just need a tiny one handled tote, as soon as the cell phone antennae is poking out the zipper corner, its time to begin the search all over again. My new search began today after missing a third cell phone call because I couldnt figure out which pocket it was in. Plus, certain items have disappeared over the last few weeks and I have a sneaking suspicion that the purse has eaten them. I entered Kaufmanns around 11:40am and went right into the handbag section. Department stores are wonderful for purses because there is always a good amount on sale so there is something for every budget. A purse is a very important accessory that no woman takes lightly. Besides the obvious characteristics of size and color, there is texture and the way it feels when you slide it over your shoulder. Does the strap adjust to just the right length? How fast can you reach your wallet or cell phone? Does it have any intriguing secret compartments? If you swung it in huge circles would the contents spill out or remain secured? Every woman is unique and the right handbag is essential in expressing ourselves, more so than wearing a great pair of shoes. When asked which is more important, Jessica from Oklahoma answered, Great purse! The perfect purse. I'm more of a flip flop girl in the summer, anyway. There is a purse that represents a variety of different personalities and lifestyles. There is the granny variety that tends to be a smooth tan, gray, or red leather with a bright golden button on the front. Unless you over the age of 30, it is recommended to stick to something a little more youthful. But stay away from flashy name brands like Tommy Hilfiger that use their tacky colors on each and every bag. Not only will it probably clash and extract from your own style but it will make you look like a walking pop-up ad and pop-up ads make everybody want to claw their eyes out. Is that what you want to do? When it was apparent Kaufmanns couldnt cough up what I wanted, I ventured to the Bon-ton who only offered more of the same. Some clothing stores offer a nice assortment if you can bear the rambunctious high school girls spending their summer looking for more hoochie tank tops. One clothing store I looked in, the name escapes me, had an interesting corduroy variety but a closer look showed it had two front pockets and a zipper fly which just really freaked me out. Aeropostale had nothing but pink and powder blue handbags. Claires, an accessory boutique, has a wall of terribly tacky bags. Dont go there unless you are looking for one that says something extremely flattering like, Brat or Pornstar. There was one that said Princess and I was very tempted but eventually declined. Around 12:15pm I finally found one at Nine West that was on sale for $28 which every girl knows is unheard of. So imagine my amazement when it rang up for $15. I almost thought of putting it back. A great purse for $15? Something must be wrong. And as if buying the purse and experiencing the thrill of spending money isnt enough, then comes the part where you get to switch over all the stuff! Its a turn on finding the right home for each item. When your wallet perfectly fits here and your cell phone, oh yeah, slides right in there. The old purse sits lifeless and empty on the bed. I tell him its not over, that I might hate this new one soon and realize how much better for me he really is. But I know that autumn is drawing near and in a few weeks it will be time for a new season of handbags and a new search for the perfect sac.
