July 17

I just came in from being outside. It's become somewhat of a nightly tradition. When I first went out, outerspace was being blocked by a haze of clouds. There was an eeire light show going on inside the coulds. It was lightning but with no thunder, or at least none I could hear. I couldn't see any blots, either. The flashes of light seemed to just be happening inside the coulds. So every time the possitive and negative electrons, or whatever, did there thing, the whole sky of clouds would light up. It was something.
I sat until the clouds rolled away, and slowly the stars began the shine. That's what I had come out to see. They seemed brighter than normal after just seeing haze. My neighborhood was perfect for viewing the stars. No one had their outside lights on, so it was completely dark.
The normal things ran through my head for a kid my age: the girl I like, this town and my friends and how I won't see them much in a months time, and just life... and how it's changing. It was nothing scholarly, but it felt nice.
This peace I was having was all broken when a car desided to come down my street. It seemed to burn my eyes as I had not been in light for some time. My rods where in full control, and in a split second the cones had to start up, and that hurts. You know what I mean, I hope.
It happened to be my neighbor. They pulled in to their driveway and their garage light came on. It's one of those lights that are placed outside of the garage, and a little above, and emits a beam that lights up a whole yard and into the surrounding land. My place of sitting, in darkness, was interupted with a covering of unneeded light. With this new annoyance came an inability to think about my petty topics, so I came inside.
I ended up not going to the baseball game today. I didn't wake up in time for the phone call saying we were going. I went and got a shot in my arm- something I had to do for college. I spent the rest of my day waiting for Kim L. to call... she never did. So I was planless. I don't know what we would have done anyway. Maybe we can tomorrow. I hope.
Doug Wade got my record player fixed. He took it in to his place of work, Wades TV, and his uncle cleaned it up. Doug says it's running great. He forgot to bring it home with him, so he is going to drop it off here tomorrow. There's my event to look forward to.
For now I'm going to search the internet for some bike parts I need. My goal is to one day not own a car and get around solely by bike or public transportation.
