Learn to ChangeChapter 1 - Perfect and Poisonous. AN: 'Velvet Goldmine' does not belong to me. No copyright infringement intended. "You really are beautiful" Jade sighed as he studied his roommate. The boy on the other bed turned his head and then did a double take. He wasn't amused. No. He was annoyed. -What?!? He snapped. Jade just glared and went back to his book. He picked up where he left off but after reading the sentence twice he realized he had no idea what it was about. His mind had wondered off in to a fantasy yet again. . . he flipped back about ten pages and tried to concentrate. This 'Pathetic Miserable Existence' as he now lovingly referred to his life started when Jade was forced to share a room with another student temporarily, due to some error the dormitory officials had made regarding his accommodation. Well, forced wasn't the right word really. Jade, being a kind hearted social person that he was thought it might be fun to share a room with someone for a while, so he didn't put up much of a fight. He'd even looked forward to it as they moved in another set of standard ugly furnishings, having always had a room to himself, he thought this might be a good experience. The second his new roommate walked through the door he realized it was rapidly heading in the direction of anything but. He'd tried to befriend the boy for the first week or so, but after that, having realized that he was too sensitive to keep getting shot down like that, he settled for being ignored so long as he returned the favor. It was going to be a long two months... The whole endeavor of ignoring him might have been made a lot easier if the boy lounging on the other bed wasn't stunningly gorgeous in Jade's opinion. "Yeah, perfect and poisonous" Jade mused, the quote from the film 'Velvet Goldmine' seemed to fit perfectly. He sighed again, rolled out of bed and went for a walk, he'd be late for curfew, but if climbing in through the window saved him a few hours of present company he'd take it! Grabbing his coat and not drawing so much as a look from his roommate "or Doommate however you choose to look at it" he left. Weather that was the stupidest decision he'd ever made or the smartest is open for debate. :::::::::: After a not so enjoyable two hours of freezing his ass off in the park Jade decided that anything had to be better than that and made his way back. Getting over the gates posed little problem for the limber youth and the security guard was easily avoided, now for the window! And here is where Jade ran in to a little bit of a snag. . . -Open up, Emery this isn't funny!!! No reply -Emery!! He tried a bit louder. The light was on silhouetting his form perfectly against the window and ..what's that.. were those footsteps? -Emery?!! The window was locked from the inside. Emery was still lounging on the bed, looking blissfully unaware and totally engrossed in his book. The bed faced the window affording Jade a perfect view of the self satisfied smirk on Emerys' face. It was all the evidence he needed. "He locked me out!" -You fucking dick head!! He hissed before leaping back down off the window sill, (first floor thankfully) and making a run for the gate. -Hey!! He heard the security guard start after him. He'd been spotted!! "Oh shit" Jade ran faster and made it over the gate just in time not to get caught, but unfortunately he wasn't fast enough to stay inconspicuous. So much for his back up plan. When he discovered there was no way in to the room short of braking the window, (and he just didn't trust himself with sharp shards of glass and the cause of all his problems in one room) he decided to go around the front. He could always make up an excuse and get the guard to let him in with only a caution, but now, having been chased out by the guard in question, that course of action was less desirable. It would end in suspension, he just knew it! Especially as this wasn't the first such transgression by any means. "Well. . .. now what?" Jade thought to him self as he wondered down the dark street. It was gonna be a long night. TBC. . . Learn to ChangeChapter 2 - Guilt Trip through the Window. When the knocking on the window finally stopped Emery took off his head phones and smiled to himself. "Since he hates my company enough to break curfew, he might as well enjoy some more alone time. . . Who am I to begrudge him that. Well that, and an official warning!" His smile faded a little. He was determined not to feel guilty about this, but he couldn't help it. It was annoying. Hearing someone else rush past the window outside he scrabbled over to the window knocking over his book, just in time to see the chubby guard run off yelling at some one; " Jade Id imagine. . ." in the darkness. The feeling of guilt returned ten fold. Maybe it had been a stupid idea. It was just a prank, and it's not a though they were friends or anything.. Still, he hadn't mean to get the other boy in to quite this much trouble.. "It's his own stupid fault. He never should have left this late..." His inner voice that refused to die no matter how rarely he listed to it insisted that perhaps if he'd toned down his outright hostility, the urge to take insane risks to avoid his company wouldn't be so overwhelmingly compelling. -Well. . .shit. Emery grabbed his coat and climbed out of the window in to the night. TBC. . . |
