Cricket has been alive and well in Princeton for over 140 years. Quoting Alexander Leitch in A Princeton Companion, copyright Princeton University Press (1978):

Cricket made its first appearance at Princeton in 1857 and, despite the Nassau Lit's prediction that "the college authorities would stop it, as there was something wicket in it,'' it has been played here sporadically ever since. The Nassau Cricket Club played several outside matches in the 1860s and 70s. In this century, cricket has been played at the Graduate College chiefly by graduate students from the British Commonwealth in intramural matches, although teams played occasional games with other colleges in the 1950s and early 1960s. In the mid-seventies, both undergraduate and graduate members of a revived cricket club competed in the newly formed Eastern Seaboard Cricket Conference.

Through the 1980s and 1990s, cricket continued at Princeton, played primarily by students and a few members of the surrounding community. The Princeton Cricket Club in its current form was created in 1995. PCC and 6 other teams (Mendham, Westfield, Columbia, Bristol, British Consulate, & Lansdale) joined to create the UCSA League; PCC won the UCSA League in its inaugural, and only year.

In 1996, PCC joined the premier cricket league in New Jersey, the New Jersey Cricket Association, with 15 other teams, and performed creditably. PCC needed to win its final 3 league games to qualify for the playoffs, and beat 2 playoff teams in the first 2 games. PCC then narrowly lost its last game by 7 runs to finish just out of a playoff slot. This, however, was a precursor to PCC's success the following year.

In 1997, PCC began very strongly to get to 8-1-2 (W-L-Aban), but lost 5 out of its next 6 games to all but face playoff elimination. PCC responded strongly, winning its last 4 league games to get the #6 playoff seed., and then carried this momentum into the playoffs. In the playoff quarter-finals PCC easily beat #3 seed to get to the semi-finals, and then lost a hard-fought game to the #2 seeded team, Eclipse.

In 2000, PCC is participating in the following Leagues -

    Cricket League of New Jersey
    IVY League
    Mini-League
