The Taman Aman Park is a a green patch that provides Petaling Jaya residents with a tranquil environment to exercise and conduct leisure activities.
It's quiet and calm, but the park serenity is broken whenever the LRT train passes in.
While visible from the Paramount Putra LRT station, the park is nevertheless located away from the hustle and bustle of the main roads. Situated at the borders of Taman Lean Seng (Section 22) and Paramount Garden (Section 20), the peaceful park is complete with facilities such as a basketball court, jogging trails, exercise bars, gazebos, a skateboard arena and a playground.

A scenic view of a lake plus numerous large trees complete the scenery. Chirping birds can be heard at times, but the occasional passing of a Putra LRT train drowns the melody.

For the convenience of visitors, the Petaling Jaya Municipal Council (MPPJ) has put up signboards, with instructions on how to use the exercise bars.

Weekend mornings and late afternoons are when the place is most crowded, with frolicking children and youths playing sports or exercising while adults and the elderly jog or rest in one of the many benches and gazebos.

On weekdays, the place is rather quiet and old folks take advantage of the peace by exercising at their own pace. The lake has a boat dock though there are no facilities for boating.

A lone boat, belonging to the MPPJ, is docked at the berth to allow workers to clean the lake once in a while. There is also no fishing as the lake is shallow.

The skateboard arena is popular among young boys.

The quiet and secluded nature of the park has its drawbacks, however, as vandals strike often and spray graffiti on walls and break streetlights.

This hasn’t gone without notice of the residents and the assemblyman Datuk Dr Wong Sai Hou, who are looking to form a committee called The Friends of Taman Aman that can look after the lake.

The plan hasn’t kicked off due to lack of volunteers, but Wong hopes residents and those who use the facilities help look out for the park as it is one of the few precious green lungs left in the area.

Getting There:

Stop at the Paramount Putra LRT station and take a minute’s walk to the park. There are also several parking bays surrounding the park for visitors who want to drive there, one of which is located in Jalan 20/19, off Jalan 14/47.
