Ms Cherie Foong is
Permaisuri’s “Iron Lady”. Being the first female participant who
represented this area group to participate in last year’s Ironman Race
in Langkawi, she is also nonetheless the most active female member in
the group. Besides running, the 33 year-old is actively involved in
multi-event sports like the biathlon, duathlon, and the half Ironman,
This has in fact, put a lot of guys her age (or younger) to shame.
“I have done an Ironman, 6 triathlons, and 5 Powerman.races. As for
running events, I have completed 3 full marathons and countless
numbers of half marathons,” recalls the Manager of an insurance
company after a short pause trying to recount them in order.
When asked about her best achievement in her entire sporting “career”,
Cherie replied : “Oh! I won RM600 for the Powerman race. It was great!
Reminiscent the Powerman, I had a great time as well as not so good
ones. I still remember I was not well on the day of the Powerman.
However I persisted and finished the race. I passed out upon reaching
the finishing line!”
“It was tragic! I could still remember those who were around me giving
me aides and so forth. Of course, the prize money came as a bonus”,
said the Pudu girl who started running 2 years ago. |
