Home Made Cards
These are examples of homemade football cards. This is an odd hobby I've had since the days of the Amiga
computer. As time has passed I've done a better job on the cards, basically  because of access to better
tools but perhaps a little of it is experiance. The photos are from the internet and any copyright belongs to the
original owners.
I don't know if any one else does this for their team, but I've had fun.
I guess this is the "ancestor" of what follows. Done on the Amiga before the days of the internet I didn't have
access to photos of the David Palmer when he was drafted so I printed this out then later I painted in the ballplayers.
The above became this...

Another, in pencil and cleaned up a bit.
This is a drawing off a Photo By Brian Maas, know among Viking fans as Mr. Cheer or
Die. What's funny is that this info dates my first interest in the internet at about 1996-1997.
Jumping ahead a few years ( Becuse I had been using Quark to make the cards with.),
we have Dimitrius Underwood and Dante Culpepper. Unfortunatly for Dimitrius, his
time in Minnesota was short and strange. Dante looks to have a great future ahead of him.
Last year, I got busy with Photoshop, one of the greatest programs ever written.

A little more professional. A friend said that I would love the LAYERS function of Photoshop. Yup.

The 2000 1st round draft pick- Cris Hovan. You may notice that all the text on the back of the cards
tends to be a little optimistic about the players skills,  but hey the cards are made when
the players first get drafted and the future is ahead of them.

Now I did a little exploring in style.

Looks a little too much like a cigarette ad in design. I found something better. The following are
a near exact copy off of Fleers 2000 design. My hat is off to the designer.

Chris Dishman, the most missed player of the Vikings 2000 season

Matt Birk, the new young center for Minnesota's OLine. Kudos also to the folks
at Upper Deck for continued excellence.

Now for 2001, My own design, for Michael Bennett, the first round draft pick...

That's it.
So far.
All cards made by John Benson
