Love

I would not know love if it
Slapped my face,
Crushed my grace,
Held me down
Bleeding hands bounds
Looked me in the eye,
And threatened to untie
The lies my mouth had weaved
From the day I was conceived.

You would think it love if it
Led you to the water,
Words whispering softer
Symphonies of sweet caresses,
Using the stars to number its promises
Laid you down in the lucid grass,
Words building mirages, delicate as glass,
And bought your soul for eternity
At the cost of your own frivolity.

The world would not know love if it
Came down to them from the sky above,
Covered  the lost as a worn glove,
Gave the blind their sight,
Destroyed the darkness of the night,
Cured the maimed,
Came to all those in shame ,
And took upon it the burden of their blame.
