A Story By Jamie .........

In 1943 when the war was still going on millions of soldiers were killed, 3 men
were left standing out of thousands as well as many germans.
5miles down the beach 2 germans where still bravelly fighting on,
explosions where going on all around them the sky was black with smoke.
The beach was awash with blood and the bodies of the brave English and German
soldiers. The smells were horrid we stood watching our friends die all around us
while explosion after explosion went on.

Suddenly all was quiet and we began to walk down the beach stepping over
our comrades who had fallen. The war for us wasn't over we still had to fight eventually we made our
way through to Poland along with hundreds of allied soldiers.
Once there we entered the town of Berkinsville it had been torn apart
by tank shelling and gunfire.
The commander ordered us to set up camp,as the night wore on
gunfire was heard we rushed from our sleeping quarters to
find one of our comrades dead, bullets where whistling all around us
and one of the lads fell to the floor like a sack of spuds.
Shouts rang out all around the camp "Sniper watch your backs"
"take cover".
Rickman one of our squads best snipers was ordered over to the commander
"take out that sniper" he said. Shots rang out and then silence fell over the camp
Rickman reappeared " got him " he said. The bullet had gone straight through the
german snipers head, his brains spalttered on the wall behind him.
Commander Bobberson ordered us to make camp in the deserted church
to wait until morning inside the warmth of the church me and my mates fell
asleep.

Morning came and we moved on again twenty five miles out of town our
squad ran into german gunfire," attack men " attack" shouted Commander
Bobberson. They charged and we charged guns were going of explosions
rang out all around us, my mates were being picked off one by one.German
tanks were appearing over the hill tops. It was then we realised we were
outnumbered.
Within 30minutes we had all been captured, we were marched to a prisoner
of war camp. and put into tiny cells we stayed there for 3 nights throught the
days and nights seven men were taken from the cells to be tortured,
We could hear thier screams and gunshots noone wanted to think
what was happening to our mates.

We knew we would never see them again, The following morning they
took the rest of us out of our cells and made us work we worked digging
trenches, what they were for we could only imagine.
Myself and two of my mates tried to get out but the germans saw us, firing
at us not close enought to hit us just a warning shot.
The camp was enclosed by a electric fence 3 metres high there was no chance
of climbing that. One night i hid under a hut,my mates would't risk it they
were to afraid of getting caught, i couldnt blame them. i was scared too,
I dug under the fence it took me most of the night dawn was breaking as i made
my way through the forest, i soon came upon a town it was early
morning but a old woman spotted me and started shouting.
I ran hoping to come across some kind of weapon so at least i could defend myself,
then i reslised it was futile,i knew if the germans came and caught me
i would be shot on the spot.

There was nothing else for me to do but to go back to the camp at least if i could
make my way back in i would probablly be safe there for the time being. There
was nowhere else for me to go i could hear the germans closing in on my position.
I hid in some bushes and laid low until darkness fell then made my way
back to the camp. The hole i had escaped from had not been found so
i crept silently under the fence back into the camp.
Something in me snapped i was angry that my escape plan had failed
i could just make out a german gaurd standing by the cell doors. I crept
up behind him snapping his neck like a twig. Taking his keys i unlocked the
rest of the cells freeing my comrades, we made our way to the hole i had used
earlier but just as we were about to go through we were spotted.

The silent night became filled with gunfire,a few of the guys managed to get through
the hole into the forest. otheres were just mown down by the german guns.
I was with some other guys running through the forest we could hear the
germans in pursuit thier dogs barking, snapping and growling.
We ran on and on but all the time the germans were closing in on us
headlight from jeeps surrounded us we couldnt run any longer there was
nowhere to run too we were surrounded. "No mercy" shouted the germans
as they lined us all up and shot us dead.
