Welcome!
Welcome to my old web site.  I am an Assistant Professor in Communication at San Diego State University.

I study performances of gender, identity, and power in organizational contexts. Most of my research in this area has focused on non-profits, health organizations, and sports teams.

In the classes I teach, including Oral Communication (an introductory class), Organizational Communication, Ethnography, and Performance Studies, I try to encourage students to examine the intersections of gender, power and sexuality.  I believe a good teacher is also self-reflexive about these things, so check out my teaching blog for my thoughts on teaching and other aspects of university life.

My most recent online project (though it is several years old) is a hypertext personal narrative, "Searching for Hephaestus."  Click here for a "performance."

My writings have been published and produced in a variety of outlets. Click here.

This site is quite old and I no longer update. However, I've kept it online as a supplement and link to my teaching blog and my faculty homepage.
