| This was something I posted in a topic on Game Faqs Perfect Dark Zero message board, it was just some thoughts and wondering about the GE/PD team now that most if not all the team members have left. I have to say PD was a great game, but imo TimeSplitters 2 has the most replay value, Arcade League, custom Arcade mode, Challenges a good Story mode plus a map maker. If you haven't played it I cant recommend it enough. I have found myself thinking about Rare's FPS team, I have heard that there is no one left of the original Goldeneye team and I believe I heard the same about the PD team which also had the same core GE team. The GE team was: Produced/directed by Martin Hollis Director of Photography Mark Edmonds Original Screenplay David Doak Scenic Art Director Karl Hilton Production Designer Duncan Botwood Costume Designer B Jones 2nd-Unit Director Stephen Ellis Original Music Graeme Norgate, Grant Kirkhope Sound Effects Graeme Norgate Production Manager Simon Farmer System Support Paul Mikell Additional Graphics Adrian Smith Sound System and Tools Graham Smith Elevator Music by Robin Beanland ------------------------------------ PD Credits ------------------------------------ Project Leader Martin Hollis Graphics / Artwork Ross Bury, Karl Hilton, B Jones, Lee Ray Programming Beau Chesluk, Mark Edmonds, Stephen Ellis Music Grant Kirkhope, Graeme Norgate Sound Graeme Norgate, Martin Penny Design Duncan Botwood, David Doak Animation James Cunliffe, Jonathan Mummery Martin Hollis left and eventually formed Zoonami after working on the Game Cube at that time code named Project Dolphin. Stephen Ellis, David Doak, Karl Hilton, and Graeme Norgate original GE team members left with Lee Ray, (who worked on PD) James Cunliffe (worked on PD) and formed Free Radical Design in Late 1999 before PD was released in May of 2000. I have heard that the PD team had virtually split, I dont know if that is a fact but just think those people 6/16 that I know of are gone is a big chunk... There could be more gone then that I heard others were leaving because of the move to Microsoft, others could have left earlier. I know Rare has always had talented people working on their games but I wonder how good PDZ will be without the main developers. I think they will put out a good product in the end, but the main people who put out GE and PD are not there; any thoughts? Just my opinion but I think Free Radicals TimeSplitters series from TS2 on will be the closest to GE and PD of any game. There are lots of similarities in the look of the game in certain areas ie, Neo Tokyo looks a lot like Chicago in PD, Planet X has a lot of stuff that reminds me of Area 51 in PD, the Space Station has a lot of stuff that just seems like PD etc. Dam in TS2 was maybe a salute to GE's Dam... There are other things as well, the game also has a feel of GE while you are playing it, just a few thoughts... I believe I got most of the facts strait, if any info is wrong feel free to inform me of any mistakes. I am not trying to say PDZ will suck or anything just some things I have been thinking about, I am looking forward to PDZ and have been since I heard about a possible sequel shortly after PD's release. --- TS2 Site www.timesplitters.2ya.com www.perfectdarkzero.vze.com www.twinepdz.vze.com www.ninjaturtles.2ya.com |
