Usagi strode down the street confidently, careful not to bump into anything or have 'klutz-attack', as Rei so affectionately referred to it as. After some serious debating with her conscience, Usagi was going to tell Chiba Mamoru exactly what she thought of him. And against popular belief, this was not going to be along the lines of 'you conceited jerk' as the insults usually ran. No, Usagi had finally come to terms with the fact that she was in love. And not just with any one. No, Usagi was in love with the blue eyed, ebony haired, green jacket wearing Chiba Mamoru. It wasn't coming to terms with that, which was the problem. The real problem that Usagi was facing was building up enough courage to tell him. On the other side of the street, someone else was having a similar problem. Stirring the coffee slowly, Mamoru looked at the clock on the wall. His angel was late as usual. Yes, the cold-hearted Chiba Mamoru had finally admitted it to himself. He was in love with Usagi. He had also admitted, no admitted was not the word. Pry was more like it. Anyway, Motoki had pried the information out of Mamoru, as Mamoru found it extremely difficult to keep anything from him. Today, he had made up his mind to tell her, but he found this- challenging to say the least. Any time he tried to have a normal conversation with Usagi, it usually ended in Usagi storming off in tears, or screaming names at him. But this was what he loved about her. He loved the way her face scrunched up when she was angry, the smiles she gave to her friends, how big her heart was, and most of all, her bubbly personality. Mamoru went back to looking at patterns in the black coffee. Usagi's air of confidence seemed to have diminished slightly as she entered through the automatic doors of the arcade. Looking over at the dark hared figure hunched over a large book and coffee mug, Usagi felt her heart do a little jump. "Konichiwa Usagi-chan!" "Hi Motoki!" she said, smiling brightly at the sandy haired man at the counter. "Can I get you something?" he asked. "A chocolate shake would be nice." She replied. "Coming right up." He said, and disappeared to get it for her. Usagi sneaked a quick glance at Mamoru. He was quietly engrossed in his coffee. Sliding over to the seat next to him, Usagi took a deep breath. It was hard to know what to say when they weren't fighting. "Hello Mamoru-kun." She said brightly. He looked up at her, his ocean blue eyes boring into her own. "Hello Usagi." He said, and then proceeded to look back in his coffee. *Baka!* Mamoru scolded himself mentally. *So, she finally talks to you without yelling, and all you can say is hello. You got it bad, man.* Usagi frowned. "What's wrong Mamoru? Are you okay?" "I'm just *fine* thank you very much, Odango Atama." He snapped, but immediately regretted it. Usagi's face fell. "Don't call me that! My name is Usagi!" she turned her face away. You could almost see the little black cloud above her head... Mamoru, on the other hand, was mentally beating himself up. Obviously, he didn't have the courage to face Usagi and tell her his true feelings. All he could do was infuriate her. "Here you go, Usagi." Said Motoki, coming back with the chocolate shake. Looking at the two stormy faces, he gulped. "Um, did I miss anything?" he asked tentatively. "No." Muttered Usagi, through slurps of her milkshake. "Just Mamoru being his usual baka self." Motoki gulped. Hopefully, they wouldn't have another one of their fights. It usually scared the customers away. Today, neither Mamoru nor Usagi looked like they wanted to fight. But still, Mamoru rose to the bait. "I wouldn't call her 'Odango Atama' if she would just mind her own business!" he bit out. "What?" yelled Usagi, ignoring the chocolate shake altogether. The prospect of fighting with Mamoru was much more appealing. "I was just concerned! Oh, but I guess 'concerned' isn't a word in your vocabulary, you cold-hearted baka!" "I'm surprised you know what 'vocabulary' means!" he said, watching his Usako, the perfect picture of angelic rage. "I've had it!" yelled and exasperated looking Motoki. And with that, he threw both of them into the adjoining cupboard and locked them in. "You can come out when you've settled your differences." "Oh no!" groaned Usagi, sliding down the door, and sitting on the ground. "Good one, Odango." He drawled, also seating himself across the room from her. Usagi just ignored him. She couldn't believe how her day had deteriorated. Just half an hour ago, she had been ready to tell Mamoru how much she loved him, and now, she was stuck in a store room, exchanging insults. Putting her face in her hands, Usagi sighed. Life was so unfair. Mamoru was having the same kind of thoughts, but like all males, they included some that went along the lines of, 'I wonder what it would be like if I just kissed her now'. Mamoru wondered if perhaps, that was the best solution. Still, if she hated him...Mamoru shook his head. It was too complicated. Outside the door, Motoki smirked evilly to himself. Good. They weren't fighting. That was at least a start. Looking towards the door, four girls chatting animatedly walked towards him. "Hi Motoki!" said one of them, flipping her golden hair behind her shoulder. "Have you seen Usa?" "She's in there." He said, grinning and pointing to the door of the store room. "With Mamoru." They all gasped. "With Mamoru!" exclaimed Rei loudly. "Are you nuts?" "Don't worry," said Motoki. "Mamoru won't hurt her. Quite the opposite in fact." "What?" asked Minako, confused. "Motoki, they *hate* each other!" "No, not strictly true. You see, Mamoru doesn't really hate Usagi. He feels that the only way to get her attention is to insult her. It's like a little kid in the playground that yanks the girls pig tail, you know?" he explained. "Wow." Said Minako. "I never knew, and you would think that I, the Senshi of lo-" Ami elbowed her in the ribs, to stop her from saying too much. Motoki didn't seem to notice. "Anyway, today Mamoru had finally got up the courage to tell her, but when she came in, they just ended up fighting like usual! If you ask me, they needed some divine intervention, so, I just locked them in the cupboard." He finished proudly. 'Well done!" said Makato, tapping him on the shoulder, but the 'friendly tap' turned more into a 'winding punch'. Motoki doubled over, and quietly excused himself. Meanwhile, back in the cupboard... Usagi had decided to tell Mamoru. 'It's better late than never', she thought. And besides, what better place than in the privacy of the cupboard? What she didn't know, was that Mamoru had also decided to tell Usagi. "Usagi-" "Mamoru-" they said simultaneously. Usagi blushed. "You go first." She said. "No you." Said Mamoru. Usagi stamped a small foot. "I said you first!" "Fine, fine!" he said, hoping another fight wouldn't break out. It had taken him a while, but now he was sure he had enough courage to tell Usagi, exactly what he thought of her. 'So," said Usagi, tapping her foot impatiently. "What is it you wanted to tell me?" "Um, well, gomen ne, I guess, for being so mean to you." He shifted uncomfortably. He gazed into Usagi's eyes. "And that... it's your turn now!" "Well, I just wanted to apologise too." She said. 'Weakling Usagi!' she told herself. "For saying all those cruel things to you. I didn't really mean them." "Friends then?" asked Mamoru. 'No!' "Friends." Said Usagi, smiling warmly at him, and going over to shake his hand. But in her heart, Usagi knew that friendship was not what she wanted. "Ah!" Usagi tripped on a pesky can of something, and fell. 'Damn it!' she thought. But instead of greeting the cold, hard ground, Usagi was caught by a pair of strong arms. "Arigato." She said breathlessly, looking into her rescuers eyes. 'She is so close.' He thought. And with that last thought in his head, Mamoru closed the gap between them in one swift movement. 'What is he doing?' Usaig's mind screamed as she saw Mamoru's head closing in on her. Closing her eyes, Usagi felt Mamoru's warm lips on hers and just lost herself in the kiss, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck. "Usako" Mamoru breathed, "I love you." Usagi broke away suddenly. "You do?" "Hai." He admitted. Usagi launched herself back into his arms. "And I love you, Mamo-chan!" "Really?" he blinked. "Yes!" she exclaimed, and kissed him again. Back outside... "We should really see what is going on in there." Said Rei thoughtfully. "It's awfully quiet. I just hope they haven't killed each other in there." "I doubt it." Said Ami, always logical. "Yes, well, I say we go check on them anyway." Said Minako, a smile playing on her lips. 'Check up on them more like it.' She thought. The four girls trooped over to the door, and quietly opened it. All four of them gasped at what they saw. Quickly closing it, to give the couple some privacy, Mina let out a ragged breath. "Whoa. Has she got some explaining to do when she comes out!" Inside, the couple kissed on, oblivious. Only interested in each others company, their hearts beating in unison. E-mail is appreciated! Thanks for reading. @}--->-----
