Title: Cruel Intentions - Prologue Author: Azure E-mail: shakira642@hotmail.com Standard Disclaimer Apply Loosely based on 'Cruel Intentions' a film starring Ryan Phillippe and Sarah Michelle Gellar. Raye stared blankly at the bound file of papers a schoolmate had just maliciously thrust at her. She wasn't totally aware of what she now possessed. Mainly, she focused on the people. Their arrogant gazes, their defiant expressions. They looked upon her as rubbish now, the exact same way she had looked upon them only minutes earlier. What catastrophic episode had caused their abrupt leaving from the auditorium? Certainly, the event had to be extremely tragic for what sane person would walk out on Raye Merteuil without a solid reason? Hell, even if the principal dropped dead, not a soul would avert their gazes from her regal figure on the expansive stage. Raye knew she was a stunner, and she demanded attention and respect. She had spoken her lines clearly and confidently back in the auditorium during her speech. She always delivered such moving and aspiring orations. And no one guessed that she didn't really give a damn about what she was speaking about. It was all crap, abstinence, "saying no to drugs." What bull. But Raye was the President of the Student Body, only the second female to be blessed with such a position at the prestigious Millcreek Academy. Raye was worshipped, simple as that. Her followers weren't limited to just the students, the staff and the principal admired her greatly. As they watched her stride assuredly through Millcreek's halls, as she gracefully poised herself at the various functions she was obligated to attend as member of the Student Government, they sighed and wistfully wished that their own sons or daughters had her unwavering ambition and talent. The principal had "not seen such a fine young woman since Ilene Devhart, the present Senator of the United States, had embellished Millcreek's campus." Accustomed to only the best treatment, Raye was shocked by the cold looks and surprisingly disappointed expressions her naive schoolmates threw at her. Her devastatingly beautiful dark eyes leafed through the crowd, hopelessly searching for a friendly face. An icestorm of relief blasted through her, as she caught sight of Amy Caldwell. Raye flashed her most winning smile, complete with dimples and shining white teeth that would make the Aquafresh model drop dead with jealousy. Unfortunately for Raye, Amy would no longer be trapped. Slinking up to her former friend, Amy grinned devilishly. Attempting to toss her short black hair but instead cracking her neck in the process, Amy laid her soft hand on the cover of Raye's booklet. "Happy Reading, Raylena Merteuil," she whispered dangerously, her once-innocent sky blue eyes peering vengefully below her fluttering eyelashes. Raye frowned and finally read the enormous script upon the front of her booklet. The title page, she supposed, was neatly typed and quite short. CRUEL INTENTIONS The Journal of Darien Shields Panicked, her breath short and raspy, Raye quickly flipped through the booklet. Immediately, she recognized photographs of her, photographs she recognized. And as the transcript progressed, her pictures were replaced with those of Serena Hargrove. The bitch. And with slowly growing horror and dread, Raye realized what exactly she held in her cold, sweaty palms. *** So didja like it? Please send feedback...love it, hate it, it was okay, whatever. I just wanna know how people feel about it! Some background info: This story is loosely based on the movie of the same name starring Ryan Phillippe and Sarah Michelle Gellar. I thought the film had a good potential storyline but was made into something really trashy. I wanted to rewrite it and add some class and romance. Hopefully, I can accomplish that! 'till next time =)
