She had her favourite breakfast of orange juice, strawberry jam on toast and some fried eggs with bacon strips. She made everything on her own, despite the fact that she had a personal cook, who hovered anxiously at her elbow. After breakfast, she put the dishes in the dishwasher and carefully wiped the table. Then she proceeded to her bedroom. About an hour later, she emerged, beautifully dressed. The blinding white of her shorts was matched by the sunny yellow tank top she wore. A pair of fashionable shades was perched on her head and the security team waved as she sped through the front gates in her favourite car, a snazzy orange Ferrari model. She knew exactly where she was going. There were some lovely cliffs not far off, overlooking the sea. People called it Death Point because so many had jacknifed to their deaths in the depths of the waters. ************************************* The security men stared at the taxi which drew up with a loud screech in front of the gates. A tall, handsome young man with white-blond hair nearly fell out of the cab in his haste to get out. His suit was rumpled, the tie askew and the shirt-front crumpled. His face was familiar to the security officers, who looked both startled and uncomfortable. This man had not been here for the past four years. He rushed up. "Is Miss Aylmerton in? I-- I would like to see her." He ran a strong hand nervously through his hair. One of the security men stepped forward. "I'm sorry, sir, but Miss Aylmerton left half an hour ago." "Where did she go?" "She has gone for a drive, but we cannot tell you where she went." "Cannot or will not?" The man's voice was sharp. "Cannot, sir. But she was heading in that direction, towards the cliffs." The man blanched. "Towards the cliffs?" Did no one understand the significance? Just once, they had seen it far in the distance on the way to dinner in town, and they had both shuddered, but she had said something which came back to him now, full force. "It's so easy to die there, if one is unhappy, Kunzite. Just one little slip, and it's all over." She had shaken her head. "So many people..." He had tightened his grasp, suddenly afraid that the woman in his arms would slip just like that. But she had looked up at him, laughter and love in her eyes. "Don't worry, Kunzite, I'd never do such a thing." "And I would never leave you." They were words spoken by a man in love, sealed with a kiss, a promise broken when he thought she had broken hers. The man turned and ran. ************************************* (c) Copyright 2001 by Alsepang Tyun The best part about being an author is leaving cliffhangers. *pauses* It drives your readers nigh insane. *quite happy about it* =p Mina's tale ends here. I regret to say that the next update will probably take place in a few months, as school has begun for me. I dare not take the time to write anymore. So-- until next time, then!
