Honiara and South Malaita
1. The family that hosted me during my stay prepared a custom feast for me on my last night in the Solomons. Here I am wearing red shell money, seated next to my friend Allen and his nephew David.
2. My gracious host Martin (Allen's brother) with his son David.
3. Purely by chance, I happened to meet up with a group of my former Form 6 students at the USP center in Honiara.
4. Spectacular view from on board the Vele on our way from Honiara to South Malaita.
5. The pikinini (children) of Liue on South Malaita were very curious to see a white man in their village and followed me as I strolled along the beach.
6. Allen and I walked to the nearby crocodile-infested lake of Korea. We didn't see any crocodiles, though... I think the pikinini scared them off!
7. Wakio, Allen's cousin, displays "lollies" that the pikinini collected from trees that grew near the lake. They were surprisingly very sweet!
8. After our walk, the pikinini eagerly climbed coconut trees and offered me green coconuts to drink from--these were the sweetest coconuts I had ever tasted!
