Honiara
1. Willie, one of our Solomon trainers, introduces us to betelnut, a foul-tasting substance that supposedly gives you a buzz when you chew it with crushed limestone and makes your teeth red... very popular with Solomon Islanders
2. Enjoying a soccer game at Lawson Tama Stadium (Jenny, Jason, Samuel?, Martin, Amie and Tiffany)
3. Taking a break from training at Panatina Plaza in Honiara--best known for being the only place in the Solomons where you can buy a milkshake (Armelle, Jason, Bill, Carolyn, Jenny)
4. We made the best of being locked up at King George VI Secondary School for New Year's (Bill, Jenny, Lisa)
5. Hanging out in a tree at the Japanese WWII Memorial
6. We just couldn't cope with another insipid meal at KG VI, so we're treating ourselves to some real food at the King Solomon Hotel (Buffy, Jenny B., Bill, Andrew and Jenny M.)
7. The U.S. WWII Memorial and a view of the outskirts of Honiara from the memorial
8. I spoke on behalf of the new Peace Corps Volunteers at our swearing-in ceremony in the Cultural Village
