Pequannock Township Historical Society

Our Society exists to preserve and document the history of Pequannock Township. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in local history.

What does the Society do?
We educate the public about the history of the township. We are also active in local historical preservation projects including material for the township museum. We are currently preparing historical walking tour guidebooks and working toward the reprint of George Parr's 1990 Book, History of Pequannock Township

We participate in the annual Memorial Day Parade and assist in a presentation of historical material at Grace Chapel after the parade. We also prepare an exhibit for the annual Hoe-Down, held in Greenview Park in September. Frequently, we work in conjunction with other organizations such as the Pequannock Library and the Pequannock Township Historic District Commission.

When does the Society Meet?
The Society meets monthly, generally on the fourth Wednesday of a month (except July & Dec). The schedule is determined at the beginning of each year and may vary depending on activities we are involved with.

There is no meeting schedule yet for 2009. Meetings normally take place inside the Pequannock Museum at the Pompton Plains Railroad Station, located on the corner of Jackson Ave and Evans Place.
