Eating less meat is the most important decision you can make. Is a vegetarian diet safe and healthy?  Yes it is.  Compared to a meat diet , a well-planned based diets tend to contain less fat, especially saturated fat..  Lower in cholesterol. or even cholesterol free if no meat is consumed at all.  Plant based diets provide an abundance of vitamins an minerals, including antioxidants (such as vitamins C and E, carotenoids-or plant vitamin A-and selenlum) which can help prevent or fight cancer by attacking "free radicals."  Plant diets include more dietary fibers which is protective against many diseases, including coronary artery disease, cancer and diabetes.
Excess animal protein, which is often high in saturated fat and cholesterol, raises blood cholesterol levels and can contribute to heart disease, kidney disease and osteoporosis.  Nuts and legumes are excellent sources of protein and have many other benefits as well.  Since many plant foods contain protein, eating enough calories and a variety of foods will ensure adequate protein intake.   your diet should include 1) Vegetables 3 or more servings per day 2) Whole grains 5 or more a day.  3)Fruit 3 or more a day 4) Legumes 2 or more a day
