Pokemon Haven: Assisi Farm
Obvious exits:
North <N> leads to Overgrown Lands - Route 11: Off the Route.
It is 3:16 PM on Thursday January 31. The sun is sinking lower in the sky. The moon's phase is full, but it has set. At the coast, the tide is low and rising.
Fair weather clouds drift through the blue sky from the west, along with the wind. The sunlight on the snow is dazzling, and it gleams on the ice. In the forest, blowing snow drifts against the trunks of the trees. While at the coast, the sea is bright but cruel and cold looking in the sunlight, the waves gentle and the whitecaps small.

Peppy arrives from Vermilion City: East Entrance.
Peppy has arrived.
Jameka arrives from Vermilion City: East Entrance.
Jameka has arrived.
The weather's actually pretty nice today. The snow is only a little freezing, and the sunlight bouncing on the snow is only a little bit blinding. Sarcasm aside, it's still a cold day for the island, and any pokemon that's any smart pokemon would be in shelter now, keeping themselves warm. Or, at least, trying to get to shelter.
Jameka yawns and uncurls from where she had previously been sleeping, atop the fuzzy Growlithe's back, when he movement stops suddenly. <Huh? Wha?> She mutters, lifter her head and looking around with bleary eyes. The scrawny Pikachu blinks a few times, trying to clear her eyesight. <Where are we?> Her ears perk up and she yawns again, getting up and climbing into Peppy's head, peering down at him. <What's going on?>
From the barn, another fuzzy red-and-black pokemon (though this one doesn't appear to be as bedraggled as Peppy) emerges, tentatively sniffing the air as her paws make the snow underfoot crunch. She's so intent on sniffing the air, that she's looking up at the sky, not paying any attention to the new arrivals.
That's one of the things about being a Growlithe. Peppy can't pinch himself to see if he's dreaming or not. Well, judging by the fact that, unlike his last dream, there are no three-story tall burgers, this might not be a dream after all. "Li...the..." mutters the fuzzy pup whimpers uncertainly, glancing to the side. Wind ruffles the fur around his cheeks, sending little bits of ice flying into the gust. <I think we're there.> A little pause, a tail wag, a query. <Do you think we're there?> he asks softly, straining his neck to glance at the electric rodent on his back. That's not exactly the most intelligent of questions, but what do you expect? Traveling in the freezing cold snow for two weeks can numb anybody's brain.
Numb anybody's brain indeed. Especially when you only have half of one. Jameka, still only half awake, blinks down at Peppy from her perch atop his head, ears and tail blowing a little in the wind. <Uh. There? Where's there?> She asks, looking totally lost. <And... uh, where are we?> Oh, very intelligent. The Pikachu sighs, shakes her head, then slides off her Growlithe steed's head and into his back once more, curling up. <I'm going back to sleep. Wake me up when we get somewhere.> Uh, riiight.

Aurora looks up at the sky for a few moments more, sniffing the air, then sneezing loudly and spraying snow up into the air. The Growlithe blinks, looking down at the ground, then looks over at the new arrivals... and blinks some more. It's cold, and it's late. Surely there aren't any other pokemon who'd be crazy enough to be out in this weather? <p> Purple, gold, and vermillion clouds grace the western sky as the sun descends toward the west.
Peppy half-growls at Jameka as she falls right back into slumber, but the mumbling instantly diminished. Peppy's had another one of his brilliant strokes of... er, brilliance. If Jameka is sleeping, Peppy can't be dreaming! Sure, he dreams about himself sleeping sometimes, but nobody else ever has slept in his dreams! With a little "Grrrrowlithe!" of glee, the dog turns his head to the front... and blinks as Aurora enters his vision. <Wha..?> the pup woofs softly, blinking a few more times, before glancing up at his forehead. Could his flawless logic be wrong? Maybe he is still dreaming... <Hello?> woofs Peppy uncertainly, the sides of his mouth uplifting very slightly to form a small doggie smile. That scent... That figure... Something seems very familiar about this Growlithe.
Jameka curls up in a nice little ball on Peppy's back, all cute and snuggly and warm. Aw. In a matter of only a few seconds, the ball 'o Pikachu is emitting soft... snores? Whoa. But sure enough, she's snoring away, extra-long ears twitching every so often. They twitch a little more at the sound of Peppy's voice, but he goes ignored other than that and the little electric rodent remains asleep, oblivious to the canine meeting that's more than likely to occur.
The fair weather clouds in the west turn purple, gold, and vermillion as the sun sets. The snow, in shadow, looks blue. A cold wind blows from the west.
Aurora blinks again, leaning forward to sniff the air again. She too catches a familiar scent, and takes a few steps towards the two pokemon, replying with a hesitant, <Hello?> of her own. Her paws crunch in the snow as she moves, and she lets out another sneeze as she walks.
The first thing that pierces Peppy's mind is that... well, there's a Growlithe there, yeah. But second of all, other little details pop into his mind. She doesn't look cold. She doesn't look like she's starving. Sure, she sneezed, but despite that... The Growlithe's spirits jump. This could be it! That grouchy Rattata! That mean Spearow! That grumpy Caterpie! Maybe they weren't lying after all! <Er, um, hi,> Peppy greets softly, making direct eye contact with Aurora. His inquiry is a very, very strange one. <Um. Is this where...> He pauses for a moment, and his eye contact breaks for a moment at he glances to the side. What was that name... ah, yes. He turns back to Aurora. <Busted? The Mudgestush? Does she live here?> ... Busted? The Mudgestush? Don't ask me, I just pose 'im.
The orange-red sun sinks below the western horizon, leaving a darkening tapestry of purple and red-gold clouds behind it.
Curled up in a fuzzy yellow ball (still cutely), ears sticking straight up, Jameka remains asleep. And snoring. Not much more to say here. Hey, maybe the Pikachu's lucky she's missing this little conversation. Busted? Mudgestush? Heck, maybies aside. Of course she's lucky!
The database resolves itself for the New Year! (Saving)
Aurora blinks. <Busted the Mudgestush? I don't know...> Looking rather confused, she turns to stare back at the barn, and adds, <I don't know anyone called Busted. There aren't many of us in the barn at the moment...>
While Aurora speaks, Peppy glances at the barn behind her. So it's not exactly what he had in mind. Still, it's shelter, and it might just have food inside. Perhaps even burgers, if he's really lucky. Shaking his head slightly, the dog turns his attention back to Aurora. And woofs gently, <... Really?> With an uncertain glance to the side, the Growlithe looks to Jameka out of the corner of his eye... but a sleeping Pikachu won't help. Tail, ears, and head drooped, Peppy turns back to Aurora, looking considerably more depressed, tired, and disappointed. <... Are you... sure? Because, um, I hear where Busted is, it's warm. And there's food. Lots of food! So much food, you can't even eat it all!> Peppy's spirits instantly lift up once more as the thought of food, warmth, food, sleeping, and food manifests once more. He's stretching the truth greatly, but as long as his tail keeps wagging, that's not a bad thing.
Jameka keeps sleeping. No more to say here, other than that she's really, really cute. Despite her snoring. Heck, that makes her cuter. Aw.
Aurora's own tail starts to wag at Peppy's words. <Food? How... how much food?> she asks warily, but her wagging tail betrays her enthusiasm. <Where is... Blasted of Midgestash, anyway?>
Brindled clouds conceal a few patches of starlit sky.
Chances are, Peppy's tail is wagging faster than Aurora's, due to the fact that the poor pup's almost starved. <Lots!> he woofs cheerfully, his face sparkling with delight at the thought. <I... thought she was here,> Peppy uncertainly tells the female, his moving tail slowing down though not stopping. <That... um... Some pokemon said she'd be here,> the dog quietly explains, one of his front paws nervously pushing aside a tiny bit of snow. The action has no purpose whatsoever. <But I think they were wrong. Where is this?> With a little shake, Peppy tries to see if he can't wait Jameka up. After all, this is probably something she should hear, too.
<Mmm.> The ball 'o Jameka mumbles as she's shaken. <Buh I don' wanna geh uh yeh...> She groans, ears twitching once, then laying back in annoyance. Jammie wakes up a little further, lifts her head and yawns. <Aaaaahm! We... we somewhere already? Where?> With sleep-fogged eyes the Pikachu looks around, yawns again, then catches sight of Aurora. <Aaaack! What's that?!> She shrieks, scrambling to climb onto Peppy's head. <Heeeelp!>
<I don't know... I heard it was a farm, or something,> Aurora replies, looking back at the barn, then turning her attention to Peppy. <There's a human who puts food out. I've seen him once or twice...>
Peppy intakes a sudden and quick breath, tensing visibly into slightly more of a pouncing position, as the Pikachu pops onto his head. <What?!> barks the puppy angrily through frightened and hurried pants. Inclining his head ever so slightly, the puppy growls quickly, <There's nothing to be afraid of!> Returning his head to Aurora once more, Peppy blushes under his fur, his eyes turning to the side. <Um, sorry 'bout that. I...> Bing. <Did you just say food?> Aurora has the dog's full attention now. <A lot of food? A little, at least? Is it warm?>
Lucky for the two Growlithes, Jameka is too busy freaking out to catch the word "human." Otherwise she'd freak out even worse. And she's doing quite enough of that already. <Nothing to be afraid of?! Are you joking?! Look!> The Pikachu squeals, pointing at Aurora with a shaking paw. <It's terrifying! It's horrible! It's going to eat us!> Uh, hold on. Us? Has she forgotten that Peppy is a Growlithe too? Apparently. The mention of food also goes unnoticed. Who cares about food when you're going to /be/ food? Or you think you are, anyway.
The database resolves itself for the New Year! (Saving)
<Warm? Yes... well, it starts off warm. Then it gets a bit colder, and then colder...> Aurora nods to Peppy, and adds, <He comes round a few times each day with food. So there's lots of it, if there aren't too many of us in the barn...> She glances up to the shaking Pikachu, and looks surprised at her behaviour as she looks back to Peppy.
Okay. So now we have the very slightly dumb Jameka acting rather stupid, and we've got the very dumb Peppy acting... heck, at least rationally. Reason? Well, Jameka's brain has probably frozen over. Peppy never had a brain to begin with. Back to Peppy, the dog isn't really able to say much to the Pikachu. <She's just a Growlithe. Like me,> the puppy barks, though it's quite apparent that his mind is not on scolding Jameka; it's on food. Free food. And warmth. <Lots of it?> repeats the Growlithe, as if he really is stuck in a dream. Fwoosh! Fwoosh! The puppy's tail wags back and forth with great power and much spirit, and it obviously interests the dog. Dare he ask? Dare he..? <Does he bring... burgers?> He dares!
A cold wind blows from the west, driving charcoal clouds before it and blotting out the stars in isolated patches overhead. The air is clear and elsewhere the stars shine brightly.
Her brain is not frozen over! She's just half-awake, is all. Really! Hey, how would you act if you suddenly woke up and had no idea where you were? The Pikachu just carries this a bit overboard. <But... but... it can't be! I mean, look at it! It's horrible! It's evil! It's going to kill us all!> Jameka protests, eyes wide. And then she glances at down at Peppy's who's talking. And takes a good look at him. <Eeeep! You're one of them!> She squeaks, promptly tripping over herself and falling face-first into the snow. Thud. There she stays for several minutes, slowly waking up thanks to the wonderfully horrible coldness called snow. And then she notices the discussion going on above her. <Hey... food?>
<Burgers? I don't remember... we could go and have a look now. He puts out food at sunset, most days.> Aurora turns to head back to the barn, twisting her head to look back at Peppy and Jameka. <Come on, it'll be warm inside...>
Peppy breaks his eyes away from the female Growlithe to glance down at Jameka, absolute confusion quite visible in his eyes. Jameka reacts as Peppy would had he just seen a Katerwaul. Or a Jynx. Bulbasaur. Charizard. Horsea. Scarewulf. So on and so forth. The puppy just blinks, and turns his head up. <Um, all right.> Peppy proceeds to decline his head to the ground, and will try to grab the scruff of Jameka's neck using his teeth (of course). If successful, he'll simply just march right on in with her dangling helplessly from his mouth. Sure, she could struggle out, or zap the pup, or rush inside first, but hey.
<Food?! And warm?! At the same time?!> The Pikachu gapes at Aurora, suddenly fearless. Okay, so the fearlessness most likely came from the fact that she's now awake, but still. The awakeness is due to the snow. And a common side effect to sitting in the snow (which is, for those of you playing at home, cold) is getting a little chilly. Or more than a little chilly. <Let's get outta here!> No sooner are the words out of her mouth, Peppy's picking her up. The Pikachu blinks, then giggles. <Hey. Nice timing!> She comments quickly, curling up to let herself be carried. <Onward!>
Food! Warmth! Sleep! No more living in the darn cold anymore! Will Peppy and Jameka stay here for a day? Week? Month? 'Till summer? The Growlithe doesn't care about that right now. So what if his mission to find Busted is a failure for now? All he knows is that he's going to get a full night's sleep with a tummy that isn't constantly growling. Inclining his head ever so slightly, Peppy strolls right into the barn to retire for the evening.
