Flame

The means are right for taking,
Fade to grey,
Trying to be ruthless,
In the face of beauty.
In this matrix,
It's plain to see,
It's either you or me.

- Placebo, Bruise Pristine

First time parents Peppy and Aurora aren't having the easiest time in the world - as expected. They have, however, been adapting as quickly as possible, and the whole pack of Growlithes is filled with love.

One of the puppies, however, has come as something of a surprise to the two happy-go-lucky parents. Young Flame, named for Aurora's brother, seems to have something of a cold nature about him. He does not wish to play with his siblings, he disrespects his parents, and he has detached himself from the family unit. He's even pulled Peppy's patience to the limit - and as we know by now, Peppy is not one to get angry easily.

Still, being the good parents they are, Aurora and Peppy still struggle to love the little guy for who he is. There is, however, one thought lingering in the back of his father's mind - is there, just perhaps, that flicker of hope inside Flame that has yet to reveal itself?

These logs are dated from February 2003 to April 2003.

When Are We Hunting?: Though only a few months old, Flame is already ready and raring to start hunting Rattatas.

As the Rain Comes Pouring Down: Now that the long winter is over, Aurora starts to worry about the Spring's showers, which will not bode well with her hydrophobia.

Briska's First Words: Briska speaks for the first time - and almost well, too!

Wisdom?: My first RP with Sophia and her sunglasses-wearing Growlithe. Very cute to see Peppy fool himself into believing he's smart!

Spring Arrives: An RP with all of the puppies, and Aurora, too!

Soki's Traveling Team: Soki the Sandslash offers a suggestion about what the puppies can do when they grow older.

The One Left Out: Aurora, Briska, and Peppy's concerns over poor Flame.

Fur Dripping Wet, Her Fears Become His: One wet day, Peppy and Aurora discuss their future home - and Aurora's concern over the weather.

Mistaken: Not everything Flame does is always bad...

Nowhere Else to Go: Scorch, newly released from his trainer, offers his help to the parents.

The Importance of Helping Out: Nail asks for Peppy's help, but the Growlithe isn't overly inclined to help her out.

Frivolous Chase: Briska learns the consequences of playing a popular puppy game - chasing his own tail.

Next section: Dusk: This life of disillusion cannot last; Peppy and Aurora experience more serious hardships in the next few months.

More Peppy logs!
