| I am frantic. Syd started having grand mal seizures about 1 hour ago. He pooped and peed all over himself and I thought he was gone. After his first seizure stopped, his eyes got real wide and he began breathing in and out 3 times very deeply. I just knew this was the end. I told him how much I loved him and that if he needed to go, I would miss him, but I would understand. But he calmed down and he started wagging his tail. He keeps trying to get up but he cannot walk right (is sloped clear to the front which is not normal). So I'm afraid it's gone to his brain or spine. I called the oncologist and while on the phone, he had another intense seizure. She said I could take him in to get his glucose level checked and if it's sugar related, they can manage that with anti-seizure meds. But if it's tumor related, there is nothing they can do. My husband is 3.5 hours away but can have someone drive him 50 miles back to the vet school if I can get Syd up there. Hopefully he won't have a seizure while driving and dies as I would feel horrible. I don't want to put him down tonight (can't reach my vet right now, they've paged him) without my husband being able to say goodbye. How would they determine if the seizures are caused by sugar or by tumor? Anyone who has experience with this please respond ASAP or call me. I may be on the phone, but keep trying. If the machine kicks on it means I've left already to go to the vet. Thanks guys and please pray hard. |
