I finally heard back from the oncologist. She said the radiologist did get her funding and that she would accept Syd as a participant. She also said the funding would not only pay for the CT scan but the anesthesia as well. I asked her about my concerns about having him anesthesized every 3 months. She said she didn't know what type of long term funding the radiologist had obtained, but right now, she would allow Syd to do one CT scan. They would also redo the lung radiographs on the same day so they could compare the two. So she said until she finds out how long term the funding is, this might be the only CT scan they could provide us. She said even if this was a one-shot deal, the CT scan would be of so much value in trying to determine what this suspicious thing in the x-ray is...whether it's the start of lung mets, a scar tissue or a harmless lesion. Also she said even if they did do some more CT scans on Syd in the future, they are only out for about 10-15 minutes and nothing like regular surgery, so she would have less of a concern about the anesthesia. So once again, I am on a little bit of needles thinking all of the scenarios that might transpire after the CT scan and lung radiographs. Like a lot of you, I think I would rather know ASAP what I am dealing with so I can take steps to try and fight, rather than say I don't want to know and then it be too late to do anything to help fight this horrible disease. So keep us in your thoughts and prayers that the CT scan doesn't show anything like the start of lungs mets, but instead shows just a harmless scar tissue and his lungs will be clear of mets.
