Magic
"The energies of magic are those of life itself."

-- Scott Cunningham
Magic, usually, is referred to as "supernatural," or "otherworldly."  In Wicca, magic is not supernatural, but as natural as living itself.

What is magic?
Magic is energy, plain and simple.

I have many times heard magic equated with prayer, and I believe this is true.  Prayer and magic is the same thing, only Wiccans call it magic and other relgions call it prayer, but what is it? Focussing energy for the outcome of good.
Because the Wiccan Rede says "if it harms none, do what ye will," Wiccans do NOT perform hexes, curses, or any negative spells intended to harm.
Magic is used to help us get through life easier.  If someone is sick, a healing spell can be cast to help them cure faster.  If a friend (or yourself) needs courage in order to face a difficult situation, magic can help gather courage too.
Magic itself, uses a lot of visualization and focus.  It could also be referred to as meditation.
Magic is performed with the natural energy that resides in every being.  As well, magic may be borrowed from others, such as the Earth, air, fire, water, and the All.
Reiki iteself, a form of energy healing, is actually channeling "God energy".  You could call this magic as well.
Certainly magic should not be used to alter the natural balance of things, thus most love spells should not be performed.  If a boy doesn't love a girl, magic has no place trying to bring them together.  Magic is for helping, not for changing.
For a simple, magical excersise, try the following (from Scott Cunningham's "Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner"):

Rub your hands together very fast for a count of twenty seconds.  You will grow tense and your hands will heat up.  When you hold your hands close together (about two inches), your fingers will tingle.  That is the tingle of magic
Now do it again, and this time, visualize little bolts of electricity jumping from your right hand into your left hand.
Now do the same thing again, but this time, see the electricity between your hands flowing in a clockwise, circular direction.  Hold it there, and see the little ball of light you made.  When you're through, you can push the energy ball through your stomache, thus returning the energy to your body.

Congratulations! You just did some magic!.

This is a fun excersise, and it's good for developing and practicing your magical skills.
