Specific Fic Recs (all CLex)

I don't discriminate by rating, so there is some "adult" stuff here, but it's not by any means the majority, or meant to be the majority. So when I use the word "kink" in saying that I have four major "kinks" in CLex fic, I'm not talking about just sexual, though, you know . . . .

Anyway, the four "kinks" in question are: 1. Life-bonding, -mates, etc. (Elfquestian "Recognition," for example, or the lifebond of Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar books); 2. Psychic bonds; 3. MPreg; and 4. CLexcest (where the boys are raised as brothers). When any two or more of these occur concurrently, I'm in hog-heaven, so to speak, but for more practical purposes, I'm going to list them only once, according to where I feel they most closely belong.

I also have a fondness for marriage imagery in CLex. They'll be listed under 5.

And things that I love that really don't fit under those headings are under "6. Other."

2. Psychic bonds:

Connection, by Hergerbabe

Serafina's Corner of the World

3. MPreg:

Time and Chance, by Dayspring

The Long Journey Back to Smallville, by Innusiq

4. CLexcest:

The Contest, Brotherly Advice, Together, President of the Warrior Angel Fan Club, Butoh, Dance of Darkness all by mobiusklein

Two Halves, by Dolimir

5. Marriage Imagery/Symbolism:

Janet F. Caires-Lesgold's Nourishment series is wonderful. She followed canon amazingly closely until the end of S3, where it broke off into an AU which she calls, Nourishment: Second Helpings. The specific chapter is 2.4, Red Hots and Lifesavers.

6. Other:

AtieJen introduces her CLex fiction page thus: When Smallville burst on TV, no one quite knew what to expect, Superman as a teenager? What was that all about. Well, you can't miss the chemistry between Clark Kent and Lex Luthor. . . .Their story unfolds and draws you in. You can't miss it. Neither could I.

I think that all of EscapetoCity's shippy stuff is CLex. Be warned -- keep a hanky handy while reading; some of his stuff is absolutely heartrending.

Henry Jones, Jr.'s writing is archived at his own site. His fic ranges from schmoop to angst to smut and back again.

Hergerbabe's stuff ranges from the "uberschmoop"y (her own word, relating to her story Sugar) to downright angsty, so there's something for everyone.

ingrid has written several excellent stories. Silent Linguistics is wonderful, plus really, really, high on the schmoop scale.

Kat Reitz's fics (most, if not all, written with collaborators) are some of my favorites. They're also on the longish (as in novel-length) side. You can also find them at the SSA.

Kel has something for everyone in the schmoop-to-angst spectrum, but also in the pairings sense. Her writings include Clark/Lex, Clark/Whitney, Lex/Lionel, and a couple of others. I could tell you what those others are, but then I'd have to kill you. You'll just have to read them and find out.

LaCasta has lots of fics featuring different interpretation of the Clark/Lex dynamic. Some are friendship fics, others, well, aren't. Ransom and A Night at the Opera are the only outright CLex slash ones. So far.

LLC used to have his writing archived at lexslash.com, but now he just has the ff.net stuff. Don't miss Close Your Eyes.

Mitch is still just starting his SV collection, with "only" four stories, but between the "awww!" of Never Say Goodbye and the angst of Exile, four is just wonderful.

Nymph du Pave's fics (also here) are wonderfully CLexy. Please be sure to check out her All I Want is You series.

Rose_emily may well be best known for Omiai, but be sure to check out her other stories, too.

Snuffleupagus's Sister and Brother and Trousers of Time are not to be missed.
