Rome,
is a big city, but the gay life is really different from what you have
already seen in other european cities.
The
nightlife in town is increasing, but you must consider:
-
that
the weather in Rome is always nice and mild, so people prefer to
live outside,
-
that
the sea is located only 30 km from the center and Rome has a gay beach,
-
that
the Pope lives here and the Vatican controls the italian and
particularly the roman political life, and it's against the gay way
of life.
But
Rome is the ideal place for an holiday, romantic with your partner or
sexually oriented. While you're walking in the street of Rome, look at
the boys around you, this is a good way to find friends or
one-night-lovers!!
In
this page you'll find a list of ONLY my favourit
bars, saunas, restaurants, bookshop etc. so it's not complete. I like
places where there is sex inside, not the tipical italian bar or disco,
where the gays go to, just because they are fashion maniacs (look at me,
but don't touch me) !! In the section LINKS, you'll find a list of other
sites with more addresses.
To
find the location of the street of Rome, you can use mappe.libero.it/mappe/index.jsp
: put ROMA in the field CITTA' and then the name of the street in the
field INDIRIZZO.
>WHAT
IS THE MEMBERSHIP CARD?
In
Italy to enter in a (straight or gay) place, where there is sex inside,
you must be a member of it and have a membership card. The reason is that in
this way the place is private, not public, the members agree with
what happens inside and nobody is ofended by viewing explicit sexual
acts. Please, don't ask me the reason, why is the italian law so, better write to
the POPE or to our PRIME MINISTER!!!!
A
lot of gay places are associated to the ARCIGAY
organisation. In their site you can find the complete list
of addresses of bars, clubs and saunas of the group. You can buy the
membership card at the entrance of ALL this places the first time
that you visit them. You must have your passport or ID card with you for
the registration. The membership card "UNO" OF ARCIGAY
coasts about € 15,- and its valid NATIONWIDE for 1 year. You can also
ask for the card valid 1 month: it coasts about € 7,- and i think
it's worth for you.
In
the club K MEN'S is requested the membership card FEDERSEX
: also in this case you can buy it at the entrance of the bar (€ 5,-)

This
part of the roman beach, loved by gays, is known with the name IL BUCO, "THE
HOLE". It's a wonderful place, with mediterranean dunes,
where there is also gay action. In this zone there are a lot of
nudists, even if the only place where the situation is legal is
the reserved beach for naturists.
The beach called
"Il settimo cielo" (the 7th heaven), is
the center of the gay beaches, always busy from May until
September. To reach the beach by car, from the Sea Promenade in
Ostia follow TORVAJANICA-ANZIO. If you haven't a car, go by train
ROMA-OSTIA until the last station in Ostia (Lido Cristoforo Colombo)
and then by bus #07 (stop in front of the Station) to the beach.
The buses go to the beaches only during the sommer. Pay attention,
because some buses arrive only until the last gate to the beaches
(ultimo cancello) and then you have to go by feet until the 7th
heaven (1,5 km) direction TORVAJANICA. Other buses arrive until
the end of the Litoranea Street (Villaggio Tognazzi in Torvajanica)
and there are bus stops in front of the 7th heaven beach and the
naturist beach.
