| Following our successful campaign in season 2001/02 gaining promotion to the Reading Sunday League Premier Division from Division One (East) after finishing Runners-up in a closely for contest with Ruscombe the club will be entering into the season with a change at the top. After many years of loyal and successful service as Chairman Gerry Denness has decided to stand down to allow current Vice-Chairman Colin Millard to take control for season 2002/03. Denness will remain on the club's committee and has become Shinfield Lions third life member. The club will also have a new sponsor for season 2002/03 after the club decided to end its current deal with Sonning Working Mens Club, an partnership that lasted for four years. New sponsors Darwin Close Social Club have injected a large sum of cash as the club aims to have Senior status within two years.
