I got Alexander when he was only a few weeks old.  One of the professors at the university where I work was giving him away.  He (Al) was so tiny that he could sit in my hand!  It was the cutest little thing I'd ever seen!  But he was all skin and bones.  He hadn't been eating at the professor's house, where he had been for at least a week, so I fed him some nice soft food and nursed him back to health.  As you can see, he is now a gorgeous, healthy cat!  He just needed some TLC.
How did he get his name?  Well, I'm not quite sure.  A friend and I were throwing names around, and the idea of "Alexander the Cat" came up, since it kind of reminded us of Alexander the Great.  I generally call him Al or Alley-Cat.  When I call him by his full name, he knows he's in trouble!
Alexander is about 7 years old.  He's very sweet and friendly.   He loves to have his little fuzzy tummy rubbed!  But he is, however, a wuss.  Especially around men.  Whenever my poor dad tries to pet him, Alexander runs and hides under the bed!  My sister is the only other person who he'll let get near him.  He may be a wuss, but he's my little baby!
Here are some pictures of Alexander.  Enjoy!

Sitting with Mom, but really wanting to chase squirrels! Al on my lap, but trying to escape!

Brrrrrr!
Sitting in the snow!  Good thing there's lots of fur on that butt!
Snoozin'!
All tuckered out!
