I first heard of the book Chariots of the Gods? when I was in grade school. I was fascinated and a little scared. Were there really aliens who were going to come and get me? This was around the time of Close Encounters of the Third Kind as well. Throw in the fact that my dad saw something bizarre (dare I call it a UFO?) at the drive-in one night, and you have one pretty curious little kid! Well, now I'm a curious adult, and I couldn't wait to read the book after I found it at the library's annual book sale. If you've never heard of this book, written by Erich von Däniken in the early 70's, let me sum in up for you. This guy believes that Earth was visited and populated by aliens. He points out various ancient texts, drawings, and beliefs that he believes points to aliens. The Nazca lines, the pyramids, various creation myths, and strange cave drawings are all described in his book. It really is fascinating to me, although I don't believe in aliens. I do, however, believe that the ancient world (before the Great Flood) was at least as advanced as we are today, and probably more so. The strange drawings and artifacts he describes can, in my not so humble opinion, be attributed to them. Of course, after reading the book, I had to go on-line to look for the things the author described. It wasn't hard to find most of the locations, cave drawings, and so forth that he referred to in his book. If you're curious about mysterious artifacts and so forth, be sure to check out this book!
