Feathered Soaps |
|

My backyard, it's like a sitcom, a drama, an action film, and a horror show but most of all it's an on going soap opera like All My Children, the cast is always changing or in my case dying. Here are some memorable high lights....... |

PENTY |

The star of this show, the one and only. He was born on Pentecost Sunday, hence the name Penty. He has been my tranquility. I have spent hours upon hours watching this beautiful animal. My baby :) . Ten years ago, I watched him hatch out from under his mother's down feathers. I nursed him back to health when he was on the verge of death. He has watched over my house like an obedient dog....the hero of this show. He has been the leader, teacher, and protector to all the other ducks and geese that have ever lived here. |

Rose (the white goose pictured to the right), she came to this soap in the summer or '99 as Penty's love interst, or so we hoped. She turned out to be the obsessive love interest of the Devil Duck. A sweet goose, but pretty damn stupid. Her idea of keeping warm on a bitter cold day is to sit infront of a running exhaust pipe. O well. |

The Devil Duck |

Why might someone call thier pet the "devil"? hmmm.....I dunno, it just happened one day. The black duck pictured in the left was an innocent looking animal the first month we had him. For about six months he was a duck without a name until his hormones kicked in during the spring of '98. Let me say that he was like the Energizer Bunny..he kept going, and going, and going....He certainly had character and a strong eye on Rose. |

Mother duck and her babies |

Okie..get this, I thought this duck died. She had been missing for three weeks until one day she just showed up. It was like something out of a horror movie, the ghost duck. Nope, in fact, she was hidding out in an unknown place while sitting on her eggs. She was sitting on an amazing 18 eggs!! Let me just say that two of them did not hatch. Isn't that amazing, she brought 16 ducklings into this world. Unfortunatly, she brought these ducklings into this world four months too late. They were born in September of '97 and they all died about two and half months later due to the cold. They're feathers were unable to develop fully to keep them warm. Mother duck died soon after from a predator of some sort. |

The Black Ducks |

These were the first ducks that I have ever had that could fly over a house and they did it quite well. I remember chasing them around my neighborhood, I don't know why, cause if they were to smack into a moving car I wouldn't be able to stop it. O well...one interesting fact about these ducks..let me pose one question: ever see lesbian ducks? Hmm..well I have. |
