Gibsons career started off perfectly, with his first role in "Tim"� winning him many fans and awards.
Gibson has made 2 trilogys, with his next film in 1979, "Mad Max", being the start of one of them. This series continued throughout the 80's until it ended with the incredibly wierd "Mad Max: Beyond the Thunderdome" alongside Tina Turner in '85.
Gibson had cemented his place as a superb actor in� Australia with good performances in many little known films, but still needed to properly break the United States.
"Leathal Weapon" acheived this. It began another trilogy, and spawned a fourth in 1998. Mel Gibson and Danny Glovers characters were the main draw for the films as well as the great action, as both combined well to make for a very enjoyable film.
If anyone wants proof of Gibsons great acting talent look no further than "Hamlet" in 1990, or his masterpeice of direction, production and acting in "Braveheart".
This happens to be my second favourite film of all time, and is an undoubted all time classic with most other people. If you havnt seen it...why?
Mel also showed his singing talent in the animated "Pocahontas" and lent his voice to another animated film in "Chicken Run" in 2000.
In the late 90's Mel gave superb performances in the very successful "Ransom", "Conspiracy Theory" and "PayBack".
He tried to recapture "Bravehearts" success with "The Patriot", but personally i found this film no were near as good.
Still, Mel Gibson is one of the best loved actors of the present, and is perfect in whatever film he chooses to appear in.
