CANADIAN ARROW-CLASS FAST FRIGATE

The turmoil of the Central Asian War convinced the Canadian Space Navy of the need for fast, powerful ships in their navy.  In the event of Canada being drawn into war with any of the colonial powers in the Chinese Arm, she would need a stronger naval presence to secure her territory, the RCSN's Aconit frigates, Exeter SDBs and Donovan fighters couldn't stand up to a full scale war.

The Navy's planning office drew up plans for a new destroyer, frigate and fast frigate.  This fast frigate, tentatively named the Arrow-class, was put on the back-burner -- deemed too expensive.  As time passed the Navy updated the design, in the main being influenced by the American Kennedy-class Fast Cruisers.  With the invasion of Aurore in 2298 the Navy began to push for the class to be put into production.  In early 2300 the design was approved for production, and in late 2302 the name ship of the class the Arrow was launched.  It was too late to take part in the Kafer War, but is now patroling the periphery of the French Arm in a Canadian-British flotilla.  The whole of Canada is proud of their navy's new flagship, which with a Warp Efficiency of 4.767 is the fastest ship in space, and can unleash its entire missile load in two devastating barrages.  Its also has a considerable defensive battery of 6 EA1000 lasers is well.  The Ship itself is constructed of Advanced Synthetics, is 80 metres long, and tapers from the 15m diameter rear engineering section down to 6m average at the bow.  The 'Hamster Cage' spin habitats are located in a counter-rotating pair on either side of the ship, at the centre of mass approximately 50m from the bow.

The Arrow costs MLv 185 fully equipped, MLv 25 of this incurred by the Voir drone.  The total run of this class is planned at 5, with the Javelin and Thunderball due to be completed soon.  The construction of an as yet unamed ship has begun, and Parliament is debating the funding of the fifth class member.  The Navy has 4 Stallhammer Fast Transports on order to support the Arrows.
