Firearm Design tables for the 2300AD rpg

I created these tables by analyzing GDW's stats for every human conventional and binary firearms, which fire non-APHE rounds, and discovered an underlying pattern ( the resulting formula was used to create these tables).  These tables also work for the Kafer small arms which fit the same criteria.

Pistols ( non-APHE):

For pistol rounds, the following table indexes the caliber in millimeters ( left edge), with the DPV ( top edge), to give you the maximum muzzle velocity ( in meters/second) for that DPV.

Examples:

A 10mm revolver round, with a velocity of 360 m/s, does 0.3 DPV.

A 11.5mm pistol, which has a DPV of 0.5, will have a muzzle velocity somewhere between 400 and 440

Conventional and Binary rifle rounds ( non-APHE):

The following table was created by analyzing the stats of the non-APHE conventional and binary rifle and machinegun rounds found in the 2300AD AG, Mission Arcturus, and the Aurore Sourcebook ( see end note).

It is a modification of the pistol table's formula, to take into account the differences in bullet design.

End Notes:

GDW picked muzzle velocities which were evenly divisible by 10, and close ( within 30 or so ) to the maximum velocity for that DPV.

Two weapons from these sources do not fit the rifle table:

• The Rockwell 12-81 Magnum only has a DPV of 3 by the table, you can restore it to a DPV of 4 by either increasing its velocity to 1130-1200 m/s, or making it into an APHE round ( APHE design rules will be in a later post).
• The Manchurain Type-49 assault rifle fires the same rounds and their Type-381 machinegun. The MG though, has a slightly higher velocity ( since it has a longer barrel), so the MG's damage needs to be increased to 0.8 DPV ( which is what the table shows it should have).
   
  The MG's found in the Ground Vehicle Guide also need their DPV increased, due to their longer barrel lengths creating a higher velocity than an assault rifles firing the same exact round does.
