any of the researchers can help here is some information to start.

Rufus Putman
launched April 5 th Ohio 1825
Capt. J.H. Sterrett
Came to Texas 1838
Worked Buffalo Bayou
Worked Sabine river
Snagged (hit a log ) 1840 Eaves plantation  by Starks La.
Could be carrying precious cargo
Registered in Pittsburg Pa.
Capt was on 4 other vessels  Farmer, Neptune, Silver Cloud and St. Clair 
all Steamboat vessels in Texas area.
Capt died  June 19th 1879 in Galveston buried Houston or Galveston
Need Crew, Photos, Paper clips, Stories, where built, 
This is a good one Early Texas History
